Ligue 1 side Rennes are said to have made an approach for Cardiff City defender Bruno Ecuele Manga, with L’Equipe reporting that the 27-year-old is wanted back in France.
West Ham have been linked with the experienced Gabon international and were touted earlier this month as being ready to snatch the African enforcer away from the Welsh side this summer.
A host of other Premier League teams are said to be keeping an eye on the no-nonsense centre-half, who has impressed for the Bluebirds in the second half of this season after returning to the action from a serious injury.
Manga is believed to have already held talks with Rennes and as such West Ham will need to move quickly if they want to bring him to London.
Although attacking areas are the priority for the Hammers in this summer’s transfer window, there is a collective feeling that a domineering new centre-half would be a canny addition to the squad ahead of next season.
