He’s top of the goalscorers charts in Turkey right now and Slaven Bilic is a fan of the towering German.

Yes, Mario Gomez has re-found his form that made him one of the best strikers in Europe back in his Bayern Munich days. Currently plying his trade for Slaven Bilic’s former club Besiktas, he could be an excellent signing for the Hammers in the summer.

He’s scored 19 league goals in 23 appearances so far this season, which is a decent record despite the league he is playing in. Although the likes of Samuel Eto’o (14 goals) and Hugo Rodallega (13 goals) are still managing to score a few in the same league, there is no doubt that the Turkish Superlig does possess some talented players and Gomez is certainly one of them.

Reports suggest that Besiktas could want around £15 million for the German international as they are looking to wrap up an option-to-buy with Gomez’s former club Fiorentina at the end of the season.

Slaven Bilic confessed last month that he is a fan of the striker and the Hammers could move for the striker this summer:

“Mario Gomez and Gökhan Töre would be a hit in England and are players every manager would want to see ın their team.”

West Ham’s interest in Gomez largely depends on what happens this summer in terms of both departures and arrivals at the club. Michy Batshuayi remains the clubs no1 striker target but Gomez could be another quality addition, especially if the Hammers qualify for Europe this season.

Would Mario Gomez be a success at West Ham?
