There have been some unusual rumours surrounding West Ham United in the last six months. It seems like every name under the sun has been put forward as the next big West Ham signing before we make our move to the Olympic Stadium in the summer, with Gold and Sullivan only fuelling speculation.

However, today rumours have surfaced that Manchester United are looking to raid West Ham and take one of our star players. Relatively unknown football website Football Insider, who boast an array of exclusive breaking stories, have announced that Manchester United are monitoring the summer signing, and could look to replace Antonio Valencia with Michail Antonio.

The story has made it’s way to The Express among others and is making some waves on social media. But is there any truth in the story?

Antonio is quickly becoming one of the players of the season for West Ham, he has been nothing short of spectacular recently and it’s good to hear that he is getting some recognition for the hard work he puts in. However, at the moment it must be purely paper talk. Antonio only just signed, in a big money switch, and has only played three months of football for the club.

Besides, we are moving to a brand new stadium, and are looking more likely than Manchester United to get Champions League football for next season. It would be a strange one if Antonio did want to leave.

The rumours surrounding West Ham transfers have all been about incoming players and for good reason. The big names seem content here because the club is on the up in pretty much every aspect, so unless Manchester United come in with huge money, Antonio won’t be going anywhere soon.

We have no reason to sell, and Antonio has no reason to leave.
