Dimitri Payet committed his future to West Ham United this morning, yet this hasn’t stopped rumours of his departure dominating the media.

The latest comes from Sky sources suggesting that an unnamed Chinese club are ready to bed £38 million for West Ham’s main man, including a substantial wage package of £135,000 a week after tax.

This is a slightly worrying rumour considering the financial power of the Chinese League and the fact that their transfer window is still open. However, Jack Sullivan has taken to Twitter to immediately reject interest from China:

If that isn’t enough to calm the nerves, Payet himself tweeted earlier this morning, claiming that his future was at West Ham. The timing of the Chinese rumour was something that did not sit well with the fans due to the fact that the Club are already trying to negotiate with Payet over a new deal. The Hammers will want to wrap up negotiations quickly as there are already a host of rumours surrounding Payet, just a day after news broke that the French midfielder was in negotiations with the Hammers over a new deal.

Although the rumours will undoubtedly continue, the facts do not change. The player has given his word that West Ham is where he would like to play his football in the future and it seems unlikely at this stage that Payet will be swayed by an offer from China.

The quicker the Hammers wrap up a new deal the better, we’ll just have to hope that Payet sticks to his word.
