It’s no secret that West Ham have missed Dimitri Payet since he picked up an ankle injury against Everton in November. His impact on the pitch was a sight to behold and it is certainly a privilege watching him play in claret and blue.

Despite the injury, his unprecedented form and ability has not gone unnoticed by stats experts whoscored.com. They compiled a list of the top 100 players in Europe in 2015.

The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Neymar and Lionel Messi make up the top three (ascending order) but it is the position of West Ham’s Dimitri Payet that will please Hammers fans.

The number 27 is rated the 19th best player in Europe in 2015. He assisted more goals than any player in Ligue 1 in 2014/15 (17) and when he picked up the injury against Everton, only Mesut Ozil had created more chances in the Premier League at the time.

The Frenchman finished ahead of the likes of Paul Pogba, David Silva, Eden Hazard and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, highlighting just how good a year the former Marseille man has had.

There is a feeling amongst Hammers fans that as soon as Payet returns, West Ham will rediscover their winning habit that made them irresistible to watch at times.

With the Liverpool game on the 2nd January being touted as a possible return date, it will not be long before we see the wonderful talents of Dimitri Payet once again.
