Alex Song is already working on getting back to full fitness after his future with West Ham was secured for another year.

Song was the Hammers’ first signing of a very successful deadline day and it now looks as if the midfielder is looking to kick-start his recovery programme.

He posted a video on his personal Instagram account, showing what appears to be sharp movements against an elastic weight, and it looks like pretty hard work.

The 27-year-old recently underwent surgery to remove a piece of floating bone in his ankle and it now looks as if the midfielder is ready to put himself through his paces to prove that he will be in the best possible shape when he returns to first-team action.

Song was instrumental for the Hammers in the first half of last season as he helped the side secure a top 4 spot by Christmas. He will be hoping that after a return to Premier League football last season, his body will be able to cope with the demands of a full season in England’s top flight.

With the likes of Pedro Obiang, Mark Noble and Cheikou Kouyate in the middle of the park, West Ham are looking strong in midfield at the moment. Song’s return will only boost competition for places and a player of that class will only add further quality to Bilic’s midfield.

Good Work this morning 💪🏿💪🏿👌🏿☝🏿️@systemetchakap #tchak
