Robert Green is set to re-join West Ham United, three years after leaving the club for Queens Park Rangers.

The 35-year-old is still fondly remembered at West Ham having spent six years with the club from 2006-2012. According to goal.com, Green will sign for the Hammers on a free transfer.

West Ham have already signed a goalkeeper to compete with Adrian this season but many still remain reserved over Darren Randolph’s ability to play in the Premier League. The former Birmingham City goalkeeper is expected to start against Bournemouth after Adrian’s sending off against Leicester City on Saturday.

If Green is brought in before this weekend, he could pip Randolph to the starting spot against the Cherries.

Although a striker and a midfielder are still West Ham’s main priorities this season, a move for the former Upton Park favourite on a free transfer is certainly nothing to complain about.

Queens Park Rangers are looking to free up the wage bill a little now they are playing their league football in the Championship and Green could be one of the first big names at the club to leave Loftus Road.

Many West Ham fans will be hoping that the Hammers can continue to successfully negotiate with QPR in order to negotiate a move for Charlie Austin, another QPR player linked with a move to Upton Park.
