The right approach from West Ham in the transfer market?

KouyateSo, we are well into the transfer window and West Ham has made two new signings thus far. Mauro Zarate and Cheikhou Koyate have signed and seemingly strengthen West Ham’s squad for the coming season. The Hammers have been linked with every Tom, Dick, and Harry this month and there’s inevitably more to come.

As aforementioned, West Ham has already secured the signing of 27-year-old Argentinean, Mauro Zarate. Zarate has joined from his boyhood club having rejoined Valez Sarsfield in 2013. After a disappointing time at Inter Milan, he re-found his form (albeit in a lesser league) in his home country, finishing as top goal scorer in the league competition. Mauro has signed a three-year deal with West Ham, during what should be the ‘peak’ of his career.

West Ham’s second signing of the current transfer window was 24-year-old Senegalese international Cheikhou Kouyate. Kouyate signed from Belgian champions Anderlecht after making 145 appearances in his 6-year stay. During that period, Cheikhou and Anderlecht won four league titles in Belgium. Kouyate is predominantly a defensive holding midfielder with the ability of filling it at centre-back. The Senegalese international is yet to reach his full potential and whether or not he can apply his trade in the Premier League is an unavoidable question, ready to be answered. Kouyate has committed his future to West Ham with a four-year contractual agreement.

So with many more players to be speculated about, and a few more on their way to West Ham, how do you feel The Hammers have done so far this window? Are you impressed with the two signings so far, do you feel the positions, which these players cover, were of high importance to strengthen? And who next for West Ham?

A great window would mean Kolodziezak signing along with, Slimani, Rodwell (loan) and another right back. Should also give Reid the contract he deserves and secure Morrisons future as well.

I am pleased with the signings so far . Also im pleased that with limited funds we are making sure we get the right players and not rushing in to buy anybody . it is nice to see that we are being linked with some really good players at the moment and although we could miss out if we delay buying them also I can see that the correct players need to be sort after . I would particularly like to see kolo arrive filling our left back problem position but fail to see why we let armero go even before the world cup performances by Pablo I feel that he could have done a great job for us if he was allowed to play his attacking game . even when he gets forward he chases back I feel this is one we let get away .

Be nice to acquire at least one flair player or someone with blinding oace instead of just big powerful players that some loves so much.

Too little, hopefully not too late. Should have kept Armero, grabbed Snodgrass and desperately need proven goal scorer. Too many decisions based on relatively low price cost purchase with potential profit on sale in mind. In football, as in business, the bottom line improves with the Right investments. Also, why are we linked continuously with good players who sign for other clubs. It seems that whoever is handling these negotiations keeps losing, otherwise maybe it’s just PR for fans’ ears but lacking real intention. Michu will no doubt add to this list !!

I agree with andy. Armero didnt get a chance to show his potential and he has been a key player in colombia’s world cup so far (his cross set up the 2nd goal last night).
Kolo at left back would be great with alonso as back up. Midfield and forward, I like the look of Montero and valencia up front would be even more exciting and the two of them could link well. Other than that we need to give morrison some encouragement and let him be our creative midfielder we crave. Also pin down reid for and theres a very solid squad there.

would have thought amero would have been kept!! but still i think were doing the right things were not a rich club so have to be careful… does annoy that were linked with so many yet nothing seems to emerge but thats always been the way..OH for a sugar daddy.. Careful what we wish for hehe..

As usual not much will happen until the big clubs do their deals, and then work out who they are ready to let go from their squads. This doesn’t usually happen until august, then the scramble starts.
Not sure I agree with Amero, when he played he got found out defensively in the PL, its easy playing wing back with no one to mark and flying forward. NOt so sure when he had wingers pulling away on him, he left holes all over the place. He was wandering all over the place.
Everyone knows we need a couple of full backs, we have struggled for years in those positions.
Interesting that Barry chose Everton even though we offered reported 20k a week more. Doesn’t fancy FSam’s tacticts. Believe me they won’t change ! How many mpre times will we see that this summer. Mind you glad Barry has chosen Everton, even Nolan outpaced him up at their place.
Just think we need a top notch forward, spend the lot on Hernandez from Man U or chance Harry Kane from Totts, he looked like he was finding his feet at the end of last year and he has reportedly turned down a new deal. He gave our boys the run around when he played for Norwich.
All in all, its early days yet but Ravel and Reid will be two good signings, otherwise they stroll on for zip next year.
Maybe they should let Teddy pick the new front man, he’s got to get them scoring !

I saw Armero play for us. Have to say he looked pretty poor going forward and defending. He nsturally raises his game paying with his national team mates, but I doubt he woud be as good in day to day prem matches.
