Will he play for West Ham again?

Ravel MorrisonThere are some certainties in life – namely death and taxes. To that list I’d like to add West Ham dancing around the relegation zone, and also that with the rising and setting of the sun each day, so too comes the certainty that with each passing minute we shall be closer to receiving another cryptic Ra’vel Morrison tweet to try to decipher.

The man is an enigma, and his latest offering is probably one of his most tantalizing tweets yet. It reads “Papers talk a lot of rubbish I don’t care what manager I play under all I want to do is play football #WHU”

It’s an interesting—and rather mature – statement, as well as a pretty strong hint that Ra’vel would like to still be a West Ham player.

When he left us to go on loan to QPR, fans were divided in their opinions (shocker, I know) – some felt he was trouble, and not good for the team at the time, others felt he was unfairly put on the bench in favour of Kevin Nolan, and that his attitude and off-pitch activities could be passed aside provided he was scoring goals—which he was.

When he left, the bad feeling surrounding his departure led me to struggle to see how he’d ever pull on a West Ham shirt again—but then there’s that #WHU. Could we actually be seeing the return of Morrison to Upton Park? And what would that mean for the Hammers?

His time at QPR seems to have done him good, both on and off the pitch. He seems to have kept out of trouble, and he seems to be scoring for fun in the Championship, but the man will want to play Premier League football next season – which is possible for QPR, but not a certainty by any means.

It’s hard to predict what next season holds for us, particularly if Norwich City manage to have the best two games of their club’s history in the next two weeks, but with Mohamed Diame desperate to play for a top six club (jokes!) there’s suddenly more room in our midfield for the talented youngster.

With time comes maturity, and if Morrison’s ready to focus on playing football – as his tweet seems to suggest he is – then I would love to have him back at Upton Park. Who knows, we might even get to see some football next year, and maybe our dance around the bottom of the table might cease to be a certainly.

What do you make of the tweet? Will Morrison come back to us? Will it depend on Sam’s future (even if Morrison’s said it won’t)? Let us know below.

I’m a Man Utd supporter and I was surprised that Ferguson let this lad go, the excuses he gave were in my opinion quite poor, we’ve had other youngsters go astray and Fergie always manged to pull them back in line, there had to be more in it for him to let Ravel go so easily.

West Hm got a good player, who lacked experience, and I think Sam got nervous, not of Morrison but of WHU leagues position, and he didn’t trust the youth to get them out of it.

The fact is that WHU will never be better employing a manager like Sam, you need to get some one in who is willing to let the youth get you through, buying experience is never a good idea, you have to breed loyalty in the team, and you can only do that by giving youth a chance.

Yes I assume he meant he doesn’t object to playing for Sam alladyce despite the rumours but is it also a clever way of saying I don’t mind what manager therefore what team therefore come and get me…

  • Dave says:

Unfortunatly while Kevin Nolan is selected despite how poor his form is, Ravel will not get to play in a properly balanced WHU team. Ravel,s best position is in the whole behind the striker not out on the right wing, PLAY NOLAN IF FIT AND ON FORM BUT IF NOT DROP HIM FOR RAVEL.

Couldn’t agree more ravel is everything Nolan isn’t he is quick can take on a player create something out of nothing and score a goal or 2 if we let ravel go it will be a huge mistake

he was at the game on the weekend dressed in a WHI kit,
