Victory on the cards for the Hammers

Ravel Morrison scoring against Tottenham HotspurThe treble. Not often discussed in relation to West Ham, but a treble of victories over Spurs can be recorded with a victory on Saturday.

Spurs are tittering on the edge of another season in the Europa League – one of the least fought after competitions in world football. West Ham are STILL not mathematically safe from relegation, however a point or better versus Spurs and West Ham will secure their place in the Premier League for next season.

Tim Sherwood is just about in charge of Tottenham and is aware that this match may well be his penultimate in charge of the club, despite being in touching distance of Tottenham’s best ever Premier League points talley. Perhaps not surprising given the flamboyant splash of cash in the Summer.

Sherwood will also be aware that he will be coming up against a manager in the opposite dugout who’s future is certainly as undecided. If he wasn’t aware he may well be if his side take the lead, he will hear the crowd instantly jump on the team’s back.

TEAM NEWS

West Ham will only be without the failed loanee, Marco Borriello. No injury excuses then.

As for Tottenham, both Andros Townsend and Kyle Walker will certainly be missing and Jan Vertonghen is also likely to miss out.

Likely Lineups

West Ham – Adrian – Armero Reid Collins Demel – Noble Diame – Downing Nolan Jarvis – Carroll

Tottenham – Lloris – Naughton Dawson Kaboul Rose – Lennon Chadli Paulinho Eriksen – Kane Adebayor

PREDICTION

Both sides have something to play for, and despite the unattractive side to Europa League, Spurs are likely to still fight for their place in the competition. There is also a case for both managers fighting for their futures at their clubs.

Both sides will be able to put out strong sides and it should make for an entertaining game. Maybe even a return of an excited atmosphere to Upton Park with the ‘welcoming’ of Spurs. West Ham will be desperate to return to winning ways and to secure safety in the final home game of the season. I’d back West Ham to scrape by Spurs 2-1.

whu will take the lead, high hopes, optimism etc, we can stay up!!!
then spurs will draw on half time and then go on to lose.
    SAME OLD, SAME OLD.
We have lost 19 games this season, this proves that the 1 up top
doesn’t work. When was the “manager” (laughingly!!!) involved in
a league or cup winning side.
Over half the games we lost we should have WON. palace (2), stoke (2)
