Andy CarrollIt was a usual season of highs and lows. Stress and disappointment. Anger and frustration…And those were just the kick-off times Down Under!

Then came the emotion of all the actual matches. And believe me, watching almost every one of the past 38 matches between the hours of 12am and 7am seemed as arduous as being at the ground.

There were rare glimmers of hope, victories against the odds, and performances to be proud of.

But amidst a season of much disappointment, the highlight for us as the Sydney Hammers probably came on the last home game of the season.

The victory against Tottenham Hotspur not only secured a rare treble, but also marked a great celebration for us as a supporters group.

Our home pub, just outside the central area of Sydney, was packed with fans, all hoping, if not expecting, a repeat of the results at White Hart Lane.

And for once, The Hammers delivered. It was a performance which gave an insight into what the team could have, and maybe should have, achieved a lot more throughout the year.

In isolation, the game showed we can play good football, approach matches with rather more attacking flair, and be somewhat clinical against a team when we have the upper hand.

The entertainment of the game was mirrored by the great spirit and atmosphere within the pub.

We always do our best to support the club from over land and sea, while sharing in the joys and frustrations in the stands back home.

With West Ham coming on a tour to New Zealand during the close season, the players can be sure of a good turn out of fans on this side of the world.

It will give us a chance to either witness first hand the continued shortcomings from this season or, as with New Year’s celebrations, ensure we are amongst the first to welcome in a new start.
