Can West Ham complete the hat-trick?

Ravel Morrison scoring against Tottenham HotspurLet us forget for a moment West Ham’s recent poor form and performances, that has received so much attention during the last week or so, and look forward to this weekend’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.

This is the rarest of rare opportunities, to complete not just a double, but a treble over one of our most fiercest and loathed rivals, a team that have caused us so much pain and anguish over the years.

This is the club that have allegedly stolen potential transfer targets from under our noses, when we had a deal all but sewn up (I’m thinking Eidur Gudjohnson and Darren Bent), and consistently make attempts to sign and unsettle our best players, such as Jermain Defoe, Michael Carrick and Scott Parker.

They have also attempted to jeopardise our Olympic Stadium bid with a ludicrous attempt of their own to buy the stadium, most probably leading to a worse deal for the Hammers than we otherwise would have got, ultimately preventing us from buying the stadium.

In recent years they have usually got the better of us on the pitch, too, winning in nine of the last 15 Premier League meetings between the clubs, with West Ham victorious in just three of those. Memories of that Gareth Bale last minute heartache last season still run fresh.

So, this match is the chance to really gain some revenge on the North Londoners, adding to their humiliation of being defeated twice on their own patch this season by the Hammers, 3-0 in the league and 2-1 in the Capital One Cup quarter-final. Lets not allow them to salvage any pride against us on Saturday, and their supporters to regain any sort of bragging rights.

Make no mistake, Spurs will be desperate to win this game, not just to prevent the Hammers completing a remarkable three wins over a squad worth untold millions, but also because we are still not totally safe from relegation, and they would dearly love to keep us in some trouble.

Enough has been said about the future of Sam Allardyce, and those supporters who want him replaced have made their views on the subject crystal clear. That particular issue can be sorted out at the end of the season now. I will be going to Upton Park on Saturday for one reason and one reason only, and that is to support my team.

So this is a plea to anyone who is going to the game; lets have no banners, no negative chanting or booing against the team or manager, of the sort that have taken place from sections of our support during the last couple of matches. Lets remember this is the last home game of the season where we are playing one of our most bitter rivals, and that we may yet still require points to be sure of safety. So get behind the players 100%, and hope we can complete another victory over Spurs, and finish what has largely been a disappointing campaign on something of a high.

As a Spurs fan I hope that wet spam do complete a hat trick of wins over us to ensure that Sherwood gets the boot and that big fat sam signs a new 5 year contract with the porno barons. LOL!!!!!

the fierce rivalry aside I for one would miss West Spam in the premier League. I’d much rather play you Guys than Sunderland or Norwich where there is no tension at all. I hope you stay up and I hope we win on saturday. But my god you need to get rid of mighty Sam. You should be playing better as should we – you can have Sherwood instead:)

You really think the Spurs bid stopped WHU from buying the Olympic stadium? Hahahahahaha

    Looking forward to Saturday,
A win would do me good personally,
Spuds are all very well but we should be playing better
FS no views either way but the sooner he goes the better

I feel your pleas will fall on deaf ears James i’m afraid re the banners and the boos , judging by the posts on other articles on this site .The anti Sam lobby have got their teeth in and they wont let go now ! In fact it would be rather hypocritical if they were to get behind the team now after all the damage they have probably done to morale lately . The team are now at rock bottom in confidence and i can’t see anything else other than a Spurs win and no more points this season .But then maybe that is all these so called supporters deserve .

I fear so too Peter. Things are no where near bad enough to deserve these sorts of protests in my opinion

Well put it this way. It is written, that if we don’t do the hat trick over Spurs then Sam is gone, so which would people prefer? Because I don’t think West Ham’s owners will give us both, both in West Ham beating Spurs & removing Sam!

    • peter iron says:

Any true WHU fan could only wish for a win , but i suspect there are those who will take the loss if it leads to Sam going .Thing is have you thought that we could still lose and the owners stick by Sam anyway ? I have no problem with us getting a better manager if it improves us , but i don’t think the owners will take a chance on anyone who hasn’t got a proven track record ,and i can’t see an obvious candidate on the horizon ,can you !

I would always take the win, even if it means Sam stays next season, so you are right, for any true Hammers fan, a win is always the priority. I sort of feel a bit sorry for Sam, because if we do lose on Saturday, then the sh*te will really hit the fan, & yes decisions like that should not be made after the outcome of just 1 game. Look at the main reason as to why David Moyes was sacked, it wasn’t so much for what he had not achieved this season, but it was more of could he be trusted to sign the right players for next season. I ask that same question about Sam, what has happened this season is history now, (and I really cannot see Norwich taking 6 points from Chelsea & Arsenal, so it would be a minor miracle for Norwich to take 6 points & West Ham 0 points). It’s what will happen next season that concerns me. Ravel Morrison is only the tip of the iceberg, as there are so many good players who do not want to come here & play under Sam. That is what concerns me.

        • JB says:

2nd reply, yes Michael Laudrupp. If I was an owner, & Michael was on the phone agreeing to sign, I’d make an appointment for him to sign in an instant.

  • peter iron says:

So why did The Swans sack him ? Plus Ravel has since rubbished the paper talk about leaving .

    • JB says:

I don’t know, you’d have to ask Michael that. I do know that Michael wasn’t prepared for a relegation fight, and why should he have been? He had built a brilliant team, and it should have been quite understandable to the club that the team needed time to recover after their extensive Europa League campaign. The Europa League, with a long schedule of Thursday/Europe – Sunday/Premier League fixtures does take it out on players, as was the case with Newcastle 2 seasons back who like Swansea, went close to the relegation zone through being over committed. (And of course, who wouldn’t want Morrison to stay here?)
So when you look at things in that context, there was absolutely no need really for Swansea to have sacked Michael, but only Michael & the club would know what really went on. Whatever happened, no one can deny, that the team he built at Swansea IS fairly impressive eh? And Wilfried Bony, what a miss he was that West Ham were not able to sign, with Bony prefering to sign for Michael instead of Sam, so that saga tells you enough in itself really doesn’t it!

Man Utd fans should get right behind us winning this match v Spurs. Any Man Utd fans out there checking this site? Well tune into our early game & cheer us on, because you know that if we beat Spurs, that will leave getting a sixth place Europa qualifying position firmly back under you control for Man Utd to win their last 3 games & pip Spurs on goal difference for 6th.
