Ravel Morrison Cheltenham TownIf reports are to be true, West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison is set to leave the Hammers later this week and join a Championship club on loan.

And if rumours are indeed to be correct, he will be following Modibo Maiga out of Upton Park and off to Loftus Road under Harry Redknapp at Queens Park Rangers.

Irons boss, Sam Allardyce, looked to pour cold water on those rumours, at least for now, insisting that Morrison continues to be plagued by a groin strain that will at some stage require surgery. Something not quite adding up?

What appears clear is the spat between Allardyce and Morrison is not one that is going to heal quickly. After a sensational start to the season, which came at a time when his team were sliding towards the foot of the Barclay’s Premier League, Morrison’s performances have dipped and followed that of the struggling Hammers; horribly inconsistent and ineffectual.

So what went wrong? A bust up with Allardyce appears to be the catalyst but the true extent as to why has yet to be revealed. As one of the lowest paid members of the first-team squad, rumours began that Morrison wanted parity with the Hammers highest paid players, which was quickly followed up by interest from Fulham.

Morrison returned to the side after a period out with injury against Newcastle United, but was largely bypassed, before being sidelined again.

If Morrison leaves on loan it almost certainly gives a clear indication as to the gravity of the issue between Allardyce and the player, which would seemingly make it hard for him to make a return.

The signings of Antonio Nocerino and Abdul Razak, combined with resurgence in form from Kevin Nolan, has made Morrison’s position even more difficult. Yet despite these issues, shouldn’t the manager be making a special effort to keep a player that could prove to be the lynchpin for future signings when West Ham make the bold move to the Olympic Stadium?

Morrison has all the attributes to be a top Premier League player and if the club truly has ambitions to play Champions League football, then surely this is the type of player they should be basing the side around.

Allardyce has already proved adept at working with a player with a troubled past so there must be hope they can resolve their differences.

West Ham have long struggled to keep hold of their best players, especially flair players, with Joe Cole and Yossi Benanyoun to name a few, and if the owners want the club to have completely lost the tag of being a selling club, then some serious hard yards need to be put into keeping the mercurial talent.

Here’s to you, Ravel Morrison.

True, also BFS says Morrison has a groin problem!!
looking ahead, does this mean we will get a sizeable
chunk of the cash for players, once upton park has been
      sold!!!!!
Or is brady going to cash in again.
Oh by the way how about Mark Noble to replace BFS?
      What l hear you say!!!
No experience, a certain Mr Billy Bonds didn’t have any either!!!!

I think Ravel needs to learn that he cannot play when he feels like it .Sulking is still a sign of just how much he has to learn .The worst thing for him now would be to let him go out on loan where presumably the mysterious groin injury would suddenly disappear and no doubt he would be running around like a spring lamb having got his way . You have to earn the right to be in the match day squad by training hard during the week .If you look around you at the players you are competing with for a place in the team and decide that it is going to be too much hard work ,who else can i go and play for where i can walk straight in the team? Fulham ? QPR? . Taking the easy way out will not make for a top footballer .Time to man up Ravel and show the club how good you think you are , not run away .

Well said Peter. As Sir Alex Ferguson demonstrated many times, no single footballer is bigger than the team or the club; not David Beckham, not Ruud Van Nistelrooy, nobody!

Earth to Ravel. You’re nowhere near the quality of the two players above! Wake up and smell the stink, Ravel. It’s your juvenile excrement you’re smelling.

  • beckton Geoff says:

Absolutely agree you peter iron he needs to put in better shift’s , im definitely not a BFS fan so good luck with that one.

    • Harry C says:

I also agree with Peter Iron. Who had heard of arable Morrison before SirvAlex Ferguson off loaded him onto us our manager took him ans started to mole him. He has talent bu could be much better if only he would buckle down and be a team player of which he is not. He has had too much of the accolades by the press and now thinks he is above everyone else at the club. How can be as good as Mark a noble who is head and shoulders above Ravel Morrison. Grow Up. Please Ravel go to wherever you are going back and come back home to auction Park where are all a family. We have gor rid f most of the dead wood and we are team players and supporters

  • anne says:

WHY…….. IF HE DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR US GET RID. LOOKS TO BIG FOR HIS BOOKS. WE NEED PLAYERS THAT PUT IN A GREAT SHIFT NOT A STROLLER.

    • Harry C says:

You are. So correct Anne. I have over 60 years seen it all before. Dyer for instance and many more at least the Manager has seen this and got rid of the Deadwood. Rat was this and he didn’t last long

  • Tom E says:

Big Sam knows what he’s doing. For the naysayers, if big Andy wasn’t injured we would be much higher up the table. Whether you like his playing style or not, big Sam knows how to win. Given another year we will see that on full display.

He is ambitious and when we play at the new Olympic Stadium we will be contending for Europe every year. Mark my words!

Suddenly a few much-needed wins and everyone is lauding bfs and know exactly what is happening behind the scenes at Upton Park regarding Morrison. Has there been a spat between the two -does anyone know for sure? Has the boy asked for a move or loan and does he really have a groin problems as stated by bfs? Let us be a little charitable until the TRUE facts are known before adding to the rumour mill. Yes he does have a lot to learn and I trust he relises that but there is no denying he is a talent that is worth holding until such times that his work ethic or behaviour falls below what our club expects. As for bfs he continues to play his highly risky negative game which relies on bodies in the box and being out-passed by even average teams. At least Morrison cann pass the ball!!
