Southampton have rejected a bid from West Ham for striker Rickie Lambert.
The England international has been a long-term target for Sam Allardyce and despite reports suggesting the Hammers are willing to double Lambert’s wages, the Saints are refusing to sell.
The England international has a gentleman’s agreement with the club, guaranteeing him a contract extension for every season up until 2016 should he play more than half of the south coast club’s games.
