Rickie LambertFollowing Carlton Cole’s missed sitter against Newcastle United, West Ham need a striker or two in, and fast.

However, despite Sam Allardyce’s infatuation with Southampton’s Rickie Lambert, the move has hit a snag with the Hammers unwilling to meet the England international’s wage demands.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Saints striker wants £75,000-a-week to make the move to Upton Park, whereas the Hammers are only prepared to offer £50,000.

If they fail in their pursuit of Lambert, it has been reported the Irons may make a move for Sunderland forward Steven Fletcher.
