Lacina TraoreEverything seemed to be going well; a win over Cardiff City, Andy Carroll back, Carlton Cole re-signing and a deal for Monaco’s Lacina Traore nearly complete.

Well, if the Telegraph are to be believed, then you can scrap that Traore nearly joining point off.

The newspaper are reporting that Roberto Martinez has made a late bid to bring the 6 foot 8 inches striker to Everton.

After the problems in securing a work permit for the Ivorian were overcome, Sam Allardyce thought he finally had his man but it may not be the case if the former Wigan Athletic manager has anything to do with it.

Despite the Telegraph’s story, it is believed that Everton’s pursuit of the former Anzhi Makhachkala striker may not fall under Home Office work permit regulations.

Basically, watch this space.

I’m not surprised at this revelation, in the slightest, utter shambles!

Been waiting for this headline for past 3 days in fact surprised it took this long. Whatever happened to even that charade of professionalism we had for a moment in time, we truly are a Chapionship club from top to bottom.

  • Aussie Dave says:

From what I understand, west ham have sponsored the player to recieve the permit to play for us solely!! Everton would have to apply them selves for a permit which can’t be done for 4 months!! Is this true! COYI

    • Spyinthesky says:

Well I have heard that but who knows, just seems too be too good to be true to me somehow where West Ham are concerned. Be somewhat ironic if we lose him to a last minute bid from Everton because they have to replace Jelavik who we lost to a last minute bid from them a few years back

    Sullivan has to resign.
    The man is incompetent.

  • Hammer Zero Seven Five says:

It has been said that the delay is because he is currently injured, apparently with a groin problem. After the fiasco of signing AC while he was injured I should imagine the board and BF manager would be very wary of signing another injured striker. We need someone who can play now not in a month’s time and are probably looking for options elsewhere. If Everton want to gamble on him and can somehow get the work permit transferred to them then that is their decision to make.

Dave is correct,he canot sign for everton,as we applied for the work permit. I’m really getting sick off people jumping on the hate bandwagon without knowing any off the facts.

Not sure what the permit regs are but sounds plausible. Looks like Sullivan and Co. have actually put the work in. However, even if Martinez can’t have him, if Traore has been drawn into the open as trying to jump to the Everton ship whilst we were helping him secure a work permit, I would send him packing back to Monaco. We need people who want to play for the shirt, who aren’t scared of a relegation fight and who have something to prove like getting into their country’s world cup squad. The answer is simple. Spend up to £10m on Ricky Lambert. Him and AC will be the new Tony Cottee and Frank McAvennie. We are already providing shed loads of goal scoring opportunities into the box and its only Carlton Cole who has really done anything with that service recently in the PL. RL+AC will get us 15-20 goals by May if they click.
