Raul MeirelesWest Ham may have entered the transfer window looking for a central defender and striker but, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Mohamed Diame and Ravel Morrison, it seems a centre midfielder is on the agenda.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Sam Allardyce hopes to bring current Fenerbahce midfielder Raul Meireles to Upton Park.

The 30-year-old has previous Premier League experience having played for Chelsea and Liverpool.

You’d imagine Fenerbahce would be willing to listen to offers for the Portugal international, as he has only made seven appearances for the Super Lig side.

Could it be that we don’t actually want him, that we are happy to just be associated with apparent potential signings so that it looks like the owners are willing to spend money when, In reality, it’s all smoke and mirrors?

Am afraid its all coming a bit too late. We need players who are gonna fight and a striker that can play with Carroll cause only playing him up front makes it far to easy for defenders
