Joleon LescottWest Ham have been alerted by Joleon Lescott’s Manchester City situation, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Hammers are in need of defensive cover with Winston Reid’s long-term injury and James Collins and James Tomkins suffering with knocks.

Lescott has only made 10 appearances in all competitions for City, this season and is believed to have no future under Manuel Pellegrini.

The England international is thought to be on £90,000-a-week and, if a deal were to materialise, it is believed the Hammers will ask for City to subsidise some of his wages.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been linked with loan swoops for the 31-year-old.

Why would City let Lescott go on loan until the end of the season (his contract ends at the end of this season) and subsidise his wages. He is a squad player and they may sell hum this transfer window but no way will he go out on loan.

Still carries logic. If he stays until June, they have to pay 100% of his wages, I.E. 100% loss. If he goes on loan, they cut the losses.

Maybe City are running short of funds
