Luis SuarezIf ever there is a time you don’t want to face Liverpool, and more crucially, Luis Suarez. It’s after they’ve played Norwich City. Suarez continued his outrageous record against Norwich and scored four goals on Wednesday.

The Uruguayan has scored more goals (13) than the entire West Ham squad (12) has managed this season.

Is it possible to stop the Premier League’s top goalscorer?

Arsenal managed to stop Liverpool scoring, but our resources can’t quite match up to theirs. However, last Sunday, Hull City played three centre halves, in a 3-5-2- formation. They completely stopped anything Liverpool had. Combined with good counter attacking, they managed a 3-1 win at home. Suarez was kept very quiet and had a noticeably poor game by his standards.

However, his performance against Norwich perhaps suggests that the man doesn’t need a run of form. He comes out with a fresh start for every game, looking to score goals and ultimately, win. Only Arsenal and Hull have managed to stop Suarez scoring or assisting in all his Premier League games this season.

Since returning from his ban, he has made nine Premier League appearances. He has already notched up 13 goals in that period, and been Man of the Match in five.

There is no doubting the class that Luis has. I am at University and have studied Sport Psychology. The way in which Luis moans at other individuals, even when it seems that the mistake was of his doing, is a rare skill that only extremely confident individuals possess. Mistakes that would mean ‘game over’ to many players, are mentally passed on to others by Suarez. This means that throughout the entire 90 minutes, Suarez’s workload and expectancy to score never falters. What I personally feel makes Luis so exceptionally successful.

Is there a way to stop the Premier League’s top goalscorer? I’m not sure there is. You can have a fair go, and if you get it right (like Hull) you will stop their talisman. However, even if you mark him out the game for 85 minutes, he’ll still be as dangerous from thereafter.
