Jack Sullivan and his West Ham tweets

Jack Sullivan Marouane ChamakhThe majority shareholders youngest son, Jack Sullivan has been delivering genuine West Ham news for a while now via Twitter, some West Ham fans seem to get very worked up about him doing so.

I’ll start with the ridiculous, and that is the fact that some fans on Twitter genuinely believe that what Jack says is lies. For a start, do you think he eavesdrops on his Dad’s conversations and then goes to Twitter without consent? He is clearly monitored and told what he is allowed to tweet.

He says that we are close to signing a player and when that deal falls through grown men start throwing abuse towards the young lad. Think back when you were a kid, how much would you have loved delivery breaking news which means so much to so many? Some even ridicule the spelling of a 13 year old who suffers from dyslexia.

He can hardly ruin a transfer deal, he gives no names until the deal is done and is the first to 100% confirm a signing. One case where he certainly got it wrong was when he confirmed the signing of Marouane Chamakh with the tweet “I am very sorry about this news Chamakh has sign a 6 month loan deal! not my pick : (“ this was the only tweet that was truly embarrassing for the club and was noticed and published by many media sources.

We could certainly do without his tweets but at least we are kept up to date, and we’d all love to break the latest genuine West Ham news given the chance. But, let’s just either ignore or accept because grown men giving abuse to a 13 year old is truly the most embarrassing part of this saga.

I read his tweets as the news is normally 100% spot on. These grown men that attack him on twitter are just little bullies.

  • JMan43 says:

I would rather he tweeted after we had some real news to tell, but you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t but no-one should give young Jack a hard time for being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

  • Jo Marsh says:

Jack has every right to post his tweets. He provides much entertainment for most of us. Those people who have a go at him should really take a look at themselves. He is a kid. No-one should take the abuse which has been aimed at young Jack recently.

  • Saboteur says:

I’d rather our press dept delivered our news,

I don’t think people should have a go at the boy but I don’t think he should be tweeting it either,

    unless it’s 100% fact,

at the end of the day DS is just massaging his son’s ego with our beloved football club, WHU is not a play thing,

it means so much to so many, if there is a signing then let him announce it, but please lay off “the we are trying” there’s still a 1% chance, people rely on WHU as their life,

not just an excuse to be 1st on twitter to announce stuff,

Like I’ve said before I don’t think a decent Dad would expose his son to possible abuse from supporters, It’s a sad state of affairs

  • Spyinthesky says:

I think you have highlighted the problem, he is clearly keen to big up his own importance and insider knowledge by passing on news as most kids of his age (not to mention adults of his age) do. The problem is that he is bigging up the information to for greater effect. His latest gem for example suggesting the imminent signing of a very good player is a case in point as it now appears that any such deal was very far from being agreed at best.

The big problem is that various supposed ITK’s keep pressuring him for information to big themselves up so what with the above inclinations combined with the pressure of those who should know better, he is clearly inclined to over egg the available information he is getting. 3 consecutive fails of this kind has rightly or wrongly wound up the clientele somewhat some of whom understandably and quite humorously parody the situation and a few who become rather abusive sadly. He would do well to underplay the information he passes on rather than over play it in my opinion.

First up. Lets gulp and take a moment to congratulate our board for securing premiership footy and then funding some great signings as well as a cultured clean out.

We must be ready for top 8 finish, but personally I taking top 10 with so many changes.

To make us stronger lets get the family days outing going. £40 for 2 adults and 2 kids under 16. Free one drink. = sell out and VFM

season ticket holders get a bonus at bar or food vouchers for every game via this reduced venue role.

I from Ipswich can’t wait to take my son to Olympic Park to see us reign for so manyyears

  • Matt G says:

It’s frustration that causes the fans to react against Jack and a lot of it is said without thinking, if I were his dad I,d be taking him off twitter so he’s not in the firing line. Let the club do the announcements. It shows a lack of class on Dave Sullivans part, no club should be giving schoolboys the job of spokesman! chairmans son or not, it probably started as a bit of fun but now the jokes wearing thin. Lets act with a bit more proffesionalism West Ham and not like a two bob Championship side

  • teddybard says:

I feel sure the lad thinks he is doing his best.
Some of the info is interesting
some accurate, but be fair the lad is only 13.
and finally just because his dad doesnt monitor his posts on twitter
it does not make him a bad father.

  • Dean w says:

I’m happy he tweets his information, as states he’s clearly monitored and allowed to tweet what he does. It’s clearly seen as a way to tell us information that the owners officially can’t and I like that.

All the grown men who abuse him should leave the poor but alone. I’m sure Jack is told if he’s gone to far sometimes

    • Saboteur says:

      Are you serious?

“It’s clearly seen as a way to tell us information that the owners officially can’t and I like that.”

What like we could do better?,

      or we are really angry?,

or we still have a 1% chance of signing a player that I can’t tell you the name of?

get real man and grow up, it’s a joke, and unless DS & DG change their ways, that’s the way we are going to be viewed,

It’s a sure fire way to put off potential investors no matter how cute it may seem,

  • Saboteur says:

Let’s be honest, It’s embarrassing a 13 year old boy telling us what’s going on, do you get this at Man UTD?, nope do you get this at Spurs?, nope, do you get this at Aldershot Town?, nope why the hell are we getting it at WHU, because we are acting like a small time club, it needs to stop,

    • KaH_AU says:

We are not Spurs or Man Utd thank god!, Gold and Sullivan have got us out of the sh*t, so if DS wants his son to tweet this stuff then its his reputation and his money.

As long as the team performs on the pitch I don’t care, DS & DG money is good enough, rather have them than some other rich dude who will rip the sole of the club apart.

Is this really an issue other than the official club tweet should be announcing news quicker and first? bit of a non-issue really. The abusers, whether to Jack or anyone else, should grow-up. No-one deserve abuse, not even Millwall supporters 🙂

    • Spence55 says:

Spot on. It makes us look cheap. West Ham is a BIG business and all negotiations must be done in secrecy and behind closed doors, not on bloody social media sites. Could you imaging the son of a major business enterprise feeding comment on Twitter about possible takeovers and share price movements ???? His old man should have put a stop to this ages ago, but clearly indulging him is a priority. Total lack of class in my book all round.

  • Matt G says:

I agree with Saboteur this is not they way to conduct yourself in the PL. it will lead to us getting mugged of in the media as its a pikey way to do business. All the good work we’ve done recently in securing the future of the club and trying to grow as a premier league force is in jeopardy because of this slack piece of judgement by the majority shareholder. Let kids be kids but reign it in when it gets silly.

    • Saboteur says:

Here here, please DS stop this madness for your kids sake and the future of the mighty West Ham

  • Richard says:

Most of us love to read who we may be about to sign. So when it’s from someone who really knows rather than these adult wannabe ITKs I for one am very grateful. Anybody who sends him abuse is a moron. He’ll prob stop soon and we’ll be completely in the dark again.

  • Peter Creak says:

Leave the boy alone,he’s obviously excited and cant wait to break the news to us fans,I would rather trust what he says than some of the rubbish that’s written by so called professionals. You carry on Jack you are doing a good job.

  • Irons fan says:

The boy is performing a useful service and he is learning his trade and the fact you can’t please all of the people all of the time. He will one day inherit the club from his father and is therefore our future chairman. His twittering is giving him invaluable experience in how to deal with the public and the media. But personally I think his father is using him as a way of saying things he can’t say maybe because of his position. For instance on the arnautovich transfer going pear shaped young jack says he’s very angry about it. That the player has decided to go to spain after his agent had agreed personal terms with club. You can guarantee jack is merely reflecting the feelings of his father who is angry about the situation but could not say anything publicly personally because it would be unprofessional. His son could say it though…

  • Paulo says:

As a hammers fan of over 30 years I am delighted with the current direction of the club but I cringe at the thought of the main shareholders teenage son releasing transfer news. If we want to grow respect we need to do things properly. I wonder what DG feels about it?

  • Will says:

Worried for us next season everyone around us has strengthened alot we have only signed Carroll who was here last season rat a 32 year old leg back a goalkeeper that is about the same standard as jussi and a kid from STOCKPORT long season ahead I hope I’m wrong

  • james says:

The only difference between little Jack and say a journo from the Daily Fail breaking our stories, is one is reliable and honest, and the other is a journo from the Daily Fail. If you don’t like his tweets, don’t follow him.

  • KaH_AU says:

I have no problem with Jack’s tweets. It is disappointing that the West Ham official tweet couldn’t or doesn’t provide the same news just as quick.

I think official news should come from the club, Jack can tweet the same but with emotion. WHUFC official tweet – lift you game, or at least keep up with Jack,

  • Tel says:

He shouldn’t be tweeting anything about the club, unless its been officially released, end of story

  • Dave the Happy Hammer says:

Its a kid with twitter its nothing officiall fgs!
But there is a clue in that DS did a Q and A through his sons twitter account! I would blame DS as he is obviously uses his son to give out information as well as misinformation.
