West Ham Target Winger

Jefferson MonteroWith rumours circling of the imminent departure of Matt Taylor and Ricardo Vaz Te, Big Sam seems to have set his sights on Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero.

Sky Sports are reporting that we are one of four clubs looking to get Montero to put pen to paper, with Hull, Swansea and West Brom also interested.

The 23 year old attacker has played previously for Villareal, and is currently plying his trade with Mexican team Morelio. He has been on the Premier League’s radar for a few months, nearly completing a transfer to Wigan in January.

Dan Chapman, solicitor at Contact Sports, revealed:

“Jefferson is ready to move to England. We can confirm a number of clubs are showing an interest, which is not surprising after his performance against Argentina last week.”

With Andy Carroll’s move needing to be funded, it looks like Montero could be a cheap replacement for Vaz Te if reports are to believed and he is on his way.

I must say I hadn’t heard a lot about him until recently, but let’s just hope if he does move to East London, this speedy South American has more luck in the Premier League than Pablo Barrera!

What do you think? Should Big Sam punt for Jefferson or stick to Vaz? Leave me a comment or tweet me at @alwaysintune.

I’m more concerned by the sky sports statement that A £10million offer for Tevez by Juventus has been agreed by Man City and Carroll cost us £15million. Why couldn’t we have gone after him for that money?

    • James says:

Most likely his wage demands are massive compared to Carroll’s. Over say 3 years his overall cost would be much greater.

    • David says:

Because he would of then cost us £250,000 a week in wages…use your head..

  • Tonka says:

I’d prefer to see Rob Hall given a chance rather hen being shipped out while we chase another foreign mercenary with no great track record

  • Hammersgirl` says:

Totally agree Tonka FED UP WITH ALL THESE FOREIGNERS The one thing l have against Sam is He is not interested in our youth players. We won’t be West Ham in a couple of years What with the OS and the foreigners l can’t see myself having a Season Ticket after holding one for many years.

Our youth set up hasnt been good enough for years. Come on now, its not just Allardyce thats not used them. Look at Hines, we bigged him up and now hes at Bradford.

We cant play them for the sake of it.

Agree, look what happened in the cup against Wigan when we did give youth their chance. I love the fact we have brought so many great players through but these guys are watching them day in and day out and obviously don’t think they can cut it and that was proved against Wigan. Those that can will as was proven when Potts came in against Man Utd. If they are good enough they will force their way in if not they are shipped out. Simples.

I couldnt give a shit if there foreigners or youth team products, if they bring success that is what counts, to say you will give your ST up is pathetic

  • Peter says:

True about Tevez overall cost. Reported last night that Man c will save, in total, 25 million with transfer fee, wages and bonuses over the remainder of his contract.

  • Hammer Kev says:

I agree not giving our youth a chance. Last season we struggled at fullbacks. Demel I don’t rate give Jordan Spence a run. Forget McCartney( always injured ). Joey O’Brien I admire but is the most one footed player at the club ( And it’s not his left foot ). Give Dan Potts a run.
