West Ham Need To Replace Him

Ricardo Vaz TeHe’s the man that all West Ham United supporters want to love following his winning goal in the Play-Off Final just over a year ago. However, I can’t help but get annoyed at some of Ricardo Vaz Te’s performances for the Hammers last season.

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Some supporters will argue that Vaz Te has been played out of position all season, with Sam Allardyce playing him on the right wing, of the attacking 3. I’ve seen supporters crying out that he should be put in the front two as a second striker.

However, Vaz Te played the wide right position many times in our promotion winning campaign, and played it well. He scored a hatful of goals after signing in January 2012, so why did he look so mediocre last season?

Is it the step up to a higher level? Is it because he is actually a striker and is being played out of position? Or is it simply that he is not good enough? So many questions to answer…..

Personally, I’m not a big fan. I don’t care if he is out of position or not, Vaz Te has looked extremely lazy at times this season. He is clumsy on the ball, is not as quick as I thought he was, and has a poor final ball. From his attacking position, he should have scored more goals. We can also point the finger at Matt Jarvis for lack of goals, but at least Jarvis adds something else to the team.

Even if Vaz Te is played out of position, I would expect him to still give 100% to the team. You don’t see Joey O’Brien not giving his all, despite being played out of position. Even Carlton Cole, when not playing regularly always gave it everything when he came on.

Simple fact of the matter is that Vaz Te is one of about 5 whom I think need replacing this summer. It’s a shame, but there is no room for sentiment in football!

COME ON YOU IRONS!!

He isnt lazy at all. He does a ridiculous amount of tracking back and alot more than jarvis. Why because Demel is a liability. At times this season ive seen vaz te playing like a 2nd right back to cover demel. Vaz Te’s final ball is poor because he is a striker also he has more assists and goals than jarvis and Diame, two players i rate highly. Another scapegoat for people like you. Last season he did not play right wing. Watch all his goals an nearly all of them were headers or from the left hand side. Vaz Te rarely gets shooting opportunities in the box these days due to our shit tactics and him playing on the right where he cant cut in.

Totally agree with you. Vaz Te just isn’t good enough, even if your having a bad game, there is no excuse for not putting in the effort

      rob
was in paris for the coup de france,
henry saviet of bordeaux is worth a shout ,very quick ,plays on the left ,shoots with either foot
      and can poach a goal.

He is not good enough for the Premier League

got to say you’ve got a point. I started the season a big supporter of Vaz Te and thought he’d have a good season. One of our better players i thought. .. But the reality is that after his injury early in the season he offered very little. One thing that for me is unforgivable is the constant lack of control, loss of possession of the ball and poor delivery. … I’m not sure i buy into this lazy label, because i’ve seen him working back quite often, but once the fans give you a label it’s you have to work twice as hard to get rid of it. … But the lack of control etc, that for me is unforgivable. It means a lack of quality. … And a lack of quality means…….. we need “more quality”.
… to compare a few in his position – Bale, Lennon, Walcott, Young, Nani, Nasri, Oscar… Vaz has got to offer more in that position. As has Jarvis. …

Chelmo, very astute and fair assessment of Vaz Te. Always flatters to deceive and very little REAL end product. decent enough Championship player but lack real quality for the big league in my opinion. If you could give him some of Mark Nobles heart and desire then we might have a player to talk about !!

  • Alan says:

The times I’ve seen him this season refuse to compete for a header I’ve lost count of, total lack of commitment and seems to have lost both confidence and quality. Think if he shows belief he could be an asset but needs to step up to the plate quick if not move him on to progress.

  • bob57 says:

Agree with all of the above, but think he shone at times last season compared to Matt Taylor, whose poor crosses, inability to win the ball, and as for his shooting ???!! They both have to go.

  • J says:

When comparing Vaz to jarvis you have to remember that he only cost us 1/2 a million where as Jarvis cost us 10 million!!! in my oppinion someone should try and teach jarvis a trick!! If a club the size as ours pays 10 million we need more end product and the same goes for carrol! 15million for 7 goals and 100 grand a week= not worth it!! who the hell does he think he is, we are the only people stupid enough to even consider it!! WE ARE HIS ONLY OPTION!!

    • dazza says:

if the 100 grand a week thing is true than we need to move on and look at someone else.

  • matty says:

Has a bit of the good the bad an the ugly about him. Id like us to sign that mcmanaman from wigan.

  • Spence55 says:

Jarvis does what hes paid to do and does it well..he crosses the ball !!! No messing, either foot and as soon as he can. No complaints at all from me. The forwards job is to get on the end of things and therein lies the problem !

  • FadeandDie72 says:

um, If Ricardo isn’t premier league quality, where the hell does that put Jarvis with only 2 goals and 2 assists? At least RVT had 3 goals and 4 assists. We paid over the odds for Jarvis, and he has not delivered, literally.

  • John J says:

We’ll certainly need goal scoring midfielders to work off of whichever big man Big Sam gets to play up front for us. I’d like to see (a fit) Joe Cole in the middle, creating chances that those around him can take advantage of. Would be sad to see RVT go, though my T-shirt has him like a Mister Man Mr T, and he’s shaved his Mo off!! Disappointed with Jarvis’ contribution too, and hoping he can deliver next term. I’d like to see us bring Rob Hall back and give him a chance. The few times I saw him play for us, Rob Hall looked like he could develop into a real threat on the wing.

  • @DanielDPrescott - Follow me! says:

That fact that he has the audacity to bow whenever he scores is what really gets my goat. Luckily he’s not very good so I don’t have to see it all that often.
