Are West Ham ‘Putting All Their Eggs In One Basket’?

carrollIt is well known to everyone in the football world that Andy Carroll is West Ham United’s main transfer target this season. Sam Allardyce and the Chairmen are not really making a big secret out of the deal are they? But are we putting all of our ‘eggs in one basket’, so to speak?

We are heavily reliant on Andy Carroll agreeing to the move, which from the majority of sources suggest that this is not going to be an issue. But what if Carroll comes back from his holiday, and decides that maybe he should give it a go at Liverpool next season?

It’s a concern, and I’m wondering if West Ham do actually have a few other players lined up, just in case Carroll doesn’t fancy a move to the East End of London. Even more concerning is the release of Carlton Cole, leaving Modibo Maiga as the only permanent striker on our books.

There have been other strikers linked, Wilfried Bony, Darren Bent, Peter Crouch to name just a few. But I see this merely as paper talk to fill up the columns of their newspapers and websites.

I’m sure Big Sam does have a back-up plan in case the Carroll deal doesn’t work out. I’m a big fan of Carroll, and I think with him leading the line for the next eight to ten years, our future looks good. However, if he doesn’t come, I hope the club move quickly to sign a decent goalscorer for the new season!

COME ON YOU IRONS!!

Hey Chelmo, Good relevant post once again mate .

I for one would like to see Carroll back with us next season but not if he is unsure to come to us which I think he clearly is due to this lengthy time of silence …Big sam should give him till Monday to decide, Id sooner have a player who wants to put on the claret and blue not beg someone to wear it!….and who is big Andy yes great player when his FIT but he’s not worth begging.

Rogers don’t want him but he wants to prove himself ….you cant prove anything from the bench Andy son. With our new stadium on the horizon the future looks good why not prove yourself to everyone by signing long-term with us and taking us to new levels …it seems nobody these days wants to prove themselves individually they need a team of greats to be around them ….I mean for example Neymar to Barca….Neymar should have chosen a team like Arsenal who are obviously good but are still waiting for some trophies …especially CL imagine him at the emirates for a few seasons …the gooners win a cup or a couple of cups and then he decides to go Barca …but in this day and age its like players are scared to test themselves and prefer to take the easy route ….

Back to Andy …… 15million I’m sorry but id sooner buy a winger a right back and a decent striker like Hooper from Celtic might cost a bit more than 15m but hey the squad will be stronger for it !!

The agreed fee is 12mill not15! It could rise to 15 with add ons, number of games, etc. also mousers have signed another striker today! Which is great as it leaves even less opportunity for Carroll! Comeon! Come to Stratford! You know you want too! There’s no need to panic as the lad is on his hols and nothing will be settled untill he comes back! Meantime anything else is just paper talk! He will sign! COYI!

Seriously, don’t be fooled by the rags that are saying he’s stalling and wants Liverpool or Newcastle more than us. The season ended and he picked up an injury that put him out of the England games, so he went on holiday. This is totally normal. he comes back next week and will then sit down and sort out his future (99% certainly with us). Until then he’s enjoying a bit of sun with his feet up. In the meantime no doubt he may be hoping that a champions league team show an interest, but that hasn’t happened. The whole ‘he wants to fight for his place’ at Liverspots is just papers doing what papers do. We aren’t begging him and he’s not holding out on us. He’s on bloomin’ holiday.

Andy carroll would do a good job for us but we still need a second striker to play along side him. I would like it to be Hooper but Bent would do as Lukaku set on European Footie

I say we just sign one top quality striker either it should be Cornelius or Carroll and a few little cheap strikers to fill the numbers and then we can fill in weak position like the CAM position in which we can attempt to get Honda on a free and a few squad players and hopefully we can even play a few youngsters like Morrison, Hall and Spence (but not Potts he is well overated spence is solid compared to him) if we go along the lines to this i would be very happy.
