A Few Tips For West Ham Next Season

Diame NolanWith the end of the season fast approaching, I thought I’d make a list of resolutions that our team should make to try and improve for the next campaign.

Sam Allardyce – When we’re drawing and playing for the win, Matt Taylor is NOT THE ANSWER. Someone like Jack Collison would be a much better option, or we could even go crazy and play two up front for a bit and see how that goes!

Emanuel Pogatetz – Shut the door on your way out please.

Mark Noble – Look Mark, we know you’re the don of penalties, and Mr. West Ham. But please, please, let someone else take corners and free kicks! Gary O’Neil’s have been pretty good so perhaps it’s time to step away from them and focus solely on the spot kicks.

Alou Diarra – I’m not your biggest fan at the moment! I don’t like players publicly slagging off their parent club, so perhaps it would be a good idea for you and Sam to have a little private word; which will hopefully end with you signing for someone else…

Joey O’Brien – To keep being bloody great! I’ve been really impressed, so your resolution is to keep doing what you’re doing please.

Ricardo Vaz Te – We know you scored the winner in the Play Off Final, but it doesn’t mean you have to shoot every time you get the ball; time to stop being as selfish and pass a bit more when there’s clearly someone in a better scoring position.

Ravel Morrison – To come back to us next season ready to make your mark on the Premier League for the right reasons. Really looking forward to seeing what you can do, just hope you behave!

Mohamed Diame – This one’s pretty simple Momo. Stay please! Be a big fish in a medium sized pond rather than a medium fish in a massive pond. You know it makes sense.

I think the Vaz Te comment is unfair. You may have had a point at the beginning of the season but not now.

Agreed! Spot on mate! At start of season Vaz seemed only interested in himself. But when he was out we have looked lop sided. And unbalanced and since his return he has emerged as a valuable team player and our balance has returned. Could do with scoring a few more goals though!

Agree with all of that. Time for matt Taylor to move on to a champ club and one of the kids come in for those sub appearances. Pogatetz is absolutely awful…..
I like the solidity that 451 gives us (no Sam, its NOT 433), but can we pls have some other options esp for chasing the game!!!! We have 3 good centre backs, so why not 352? I think the gambit for Diane SB here’s an excellent offer. It ends on 17/5 and we ship in a replacement. We can’t wait n see else someone WILL sign him on deadline day and then we r stuffed unless we have already replaced him. I think that’s why diarra was bought initially.

Also, why has maiga not played more? He’s clearly a better striker than Cole, for example.

And let’s see at least 20 mins of Elliot on Saturday! If we don’t see at least two kids on the bench Saturday and one of them playing then Sam really has to go!

What, so you think Sam should be sacked/not offered a new contract if he doesn’t give youth a chance at the weekend??? In 2 years he’s turned the club around, promoted us and has us in the top half of the table, but some people will never be satisfied! I would like us to get more of our youth team involved as long as they are good enough. The reality is the overwhelming majority of our talented young players will not be of the standadrd we need to be a top premier league team (look at Aresnal and Uniteds young players over the years) and will ply their trade at lower levels. I’ve heard comments all season that spence, potts, lee, hall shuld all be regulars in the team. The fact is there are better playes in their respective positions and playing these guys week in week out would probably see us fighjting relegation at the moment

I agree with what Big Sam is doing and although the method has sometimes not looked pretty the results speak for themselves! To be where we are from where we were only a couple of years ago is probably beyond most of our dreams. The most important thing for me though is the sense of calm he has bought to the club. That has certainly been missed. The criticism about playing youth is a little bit uncalled for, youth development takes time and certainly shouldn’t be rushed. If they are good enough they will get their chance. My only major concern is our away form! Apart from the maybe 4 totally inept performances(we all know the ones), we have been to safety first. We are better than that! Far to often we have been far to defensive against teams we should have been beating! Only once this year(against city) can I remember us bringing on a second striker when we needed a result. That is not good enough! If I’m going to loose against teams that are really not in our league then let them beat us 5-4! And not feebly 2-0 having defended all game! I think Big Sam has underestimated us in this respect this year as when we have been able to Press teams high up the pitch and attack them we have looked good away. As the team progresses next season our away form will be interesting to see in its development. COYI!

It’s not just taking corners where Mark Noble has to improve. His pace is sluggish to say the least. If he is to improve as a Premiership player then he has to be far quicker off the
mark ( no pun intended ). Gary O’neil makes far more forward runs with a fair turn of
pace. Thus, we seem to break into the opponents half far quicker.
Mark Noble might be Mr West Ham but I’d like to see someone for pacier in that role.

Totally agree, we need two full backs a central defender as cover a creative midfielder and two front men if Carroll goes.

  • realist says:

Kevin Nolan don’t do enough in a important position, carrying too much timber. Vaz Te is the laziest player but when he can be bothered he is good. Matt Taylor is crap and needs to move on. Pogs go away. Young players need to be involved more. New scouting in Europe cos players we bought don’t play. New full backs Morrison in midfield and some goal scoring forwards please.
