Jordan RhodesWest Ham are considering an £8 million move for Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes, the Daily Mirror are reporting.

Sam Allardyce tried to sign the Scottish international last summer but Rovers scared everyone off with their £8 million bid for the then Huddersfield player.

The Npower Championship side are under real threat of relegation and desperately need to slash their wage bill, hence Big Sam reviving his interest.

The 23-year-old has 25 league goals this season, proving that his 40 goals in all competitions for Huddersfield last season was more than just a fluke.

The Hammers are in need for a clinical striker with the inform Andy Carroll not definitely returning to Upton Park next season.

The signings of Marouane Chamakh, Wellington Paulista and Modibo Maiga clearly haven’t worked out and are all set to leave/return to their parent clubs. Furthermore Carlton Cole must lower his wage demands if he is to get a new contract, so, all this leaves West Ham extremely low on attacking options come the summer.

What do you think? Do you want Rhodes?

Makes me laugh.. what did we bid for him in the championship 1.5 m? 8m on a player that hasn’t proved himself at the top level..Look how much Vaz te stuck out last year compaired to this year. The Premier league is a big step for a player who was playing in league one 2 years ago!!

Adam I see where your coming from but Anthony Pilkington went from League 2 to the Prem with Norwich and he’s fit in quite well. That being said that price is laughable as if Blackburn go down they will have to sell for less than 6 maybe even 4. Hopefully they do

  • Phil says:

    NO! Not at £8m

  • Macca says:

I would offer 5.5 million for he lad, but he wold be a very good striker for the club, and would score goals, Macca, westham.

  • Hugh Bevan says:

If you don’t give people a chance you will never know what they can do. Maiga, Vaz Te, Chamakh and Paulista haven’t been given a chance at all because they don’t fit Sams system. I struggle to see how that would change if Rhodes joined. He would just be another wasted signing played out of position or never played at all.

After the game with Man U I think I might like to keep Andy Carroll thanks.

  • Davie D says:

He’s a goal getter and a good finsher. Well worth a punt at £6m if we lose carroll . A couple of good examples of strikers going through the leagues are Kevin Phillips and Richie Lambert. A goal scorer is a goal scorer.
