Time For Some Positivity Hammers

|

west ham fans 2Reports suggest that manager Sam Allardyce is on the verge of penning a three year contract on the basis that he secures Premier League football for West Ham next season.

With such speculation rife, many Hammers are getting agitated over their doubtful future, however it is most likely he will sign the new contract come summer with the Hammers not far off being 10th in the Premier League.

With that being said, it can also be said that the chances of Andy Carroll signing are greatly increased due to his integral aerial dominance that is so treasured by Big Sam.

I would love to see Allardyce sign a new contract as the way forward is stability, through consistency. Many fans were calling for Di Canio but let truth be told, it isn’t time. With Di Canio currently at Sunderland, however, we can measure his managerial ability in a league that we are meant to be in, but it sickens me that such negative comments about our current manager are rife!

It is about time that our fans got behind the team and Allardyce, but over the past few weeks I have noticed comments on my articles that many people are cynical about our shared passion of West Ham United.

The way forward is positivity and I know that at time it is hard to gather, but look at it in such way that two years ago we were on the brink of extinction! Our beloved Hammers … Now we have a confident manager who begs for the opportunity to be the man behind our potential success!

This is the way forward! A contract for Allardyce! The signing of Andy Carroll … Be positive, remain that 12th man that is so cherished at Upton Park and carry it on through years whether confronted by troubles or not, and ensure that our roar can be taken to the Olympic Stadium with the club!

To me, many Hammers need to stop being so down about things that have others jumping with glee! We were third promoted last season and doing the best of the other two promoted sides.

West Ham to me, has positive connotations … What’s yours?

I support the team every week, scream and shout at the games in support whether we are winning or not. Describing my feelings after the game does not mean I don’t support the team during them. It’s funny how in an article titled with the word positivity you are also discussing how great it is to have the most negative manager on earth signing a new deal. I agree that positivity is the way forward, if we had played with a positive outlook such as against WBA every week imagine where would be in the league.
Having said that, I get the point that we need stability right now and it is fair enough. I am not so sure fans like myself should be condemned though just because we are not a fan of Sam and the way we are playing at the moment. Our stadium atmosphere hasn’t been lost under Sam, what we have lost is the fundamental pillars that make WHUFC such a great club and that I will not support. I will continue to support the team whoever is in charge but just because I don’t like the manager or the way we play doesn’t make me any less of a fan.

I have been supporting WHU since 1968 just after we won the world cup. I come from a big east end family of my 100 first cousins all of who have kids we all support WHU. Its part of our family. I feel more positive about my team since G& S got the ownership and bought in BS not since Pardew and 2006 have i felt we were on the right Path. I have to laugh when people who dont really understand football scream for football played the west Ham way. The writer is correct we need to stabilise and believe and if that means sacrificing playing great footbal and loseing wake up we cannot compete with the Arsenals of this world in the passing department at the moment. Since BS came in we have gained promotion and it looks like stayed up with a move to a magnificent new stadium on the horizon and believe me investment will follow. G & S are no mugs and love WHU like we do. If we keep BS long term the football will get better and we will improve. Just look what happened at Bolton2 or 3 seasons of european football. COYI

Bristol hammer you Are spot on! The best article I’ve read in a long time! We should stop living in the past, going over past glories that often didn’t exist and concentrate on the here and now! And to the new future!
We are finally stable, both on and off the pitch and have been given the most fantastic opportunity to finally make something of ourselves and at last compete with the big boys! The alternative just doesn’t bear thinking about! COYI!

I wrote an article on here 2 weeks ago with a similar meaning, if people arent happy with style of play thats fine, but its something we all have to except! This is the most comfortable season weve had since our last promotion back in 05, We can always get another manager in who wants to play lovely passing football, then watch everyone get on his back when we lose everyweek!! We have played some good stuff on the ground this year and when weve had to, we have dug in and ground out points ..a spirited defensive display against teams like man city and liverpool is the west ham way in my eyes..putting bodys on the line when it counts COYI!!!!

Please let us all see sense BFS is far too negative we all prefer to go down swinging and sometimes punch above our weight.
Every club in the Premiership is looking forward with a new modern coach not a percentages game.
We can win our way we do win our way we only lost the plot after Avram Grant debacle.
Let’s get a modern manager and win our way.

      Completely agree with you mate.

What exactly is ‘our way’ anymore? As far as I can see it has been far too many years since we played anything like “our” kind of football! And even then, what has it achieved for us? We have not even been in with a sniff of a trophy for far too long now.
If you are happy with that, then you would have been happy with a succession of under performing teams that ran around punching above their weight one week then getting spanked the next! By both higher and lower based teams. Oh and wildly yo-yo ing from the prem to championship with disastrous results.
Teams expensively assembled savagely picked apart by vultures on a freshly died corpse! Throw in numerous flirtations with bankruptcy and there you have it! The last thirty years of west ham playing ” beautiful” football!
Some people should be careful of their selective memories! Even when we have been “good” over the years we have been not good enough, in fact crap actually!
I am not saying all things under Big Sam has been a bed of roses, in fact there have been times they have been quite dire! But after what has gone on recently, grant, near bankruptcy relegation etc he looks like something close to a breath of fresh air! Not to mention getting us up on a shoestring and making us safe for another season.(nearly job done anyway).
More importantly he has been a beacon of calm and continues to be a safe pair of hands. For this we should be grateful. I know this is not sexy football but if it gets us to,the OS and allows us the time in which to build a team fit to play in it, then it’s Big Sam any day of the week! Sexy football or no sexy football!

      • dazza says:

agree with all that phil but what the club needs and what big sam needs is not so much sexy football but a sexy player someone to get the fans off there seats he had one or two at bolton so it should work at west ham.
