Andy Carroll Is The Perfect ‘Fit’ For West Ham

|

Andy CarrollAt St Mary’s on Saturday Andy Carroll rifled in his 5th goal in seven games and later admitted that he would be open to a permanent transfer to West Ham…so bearing all this in mind; is he worth the 17 million Liverpool want?

Carroll is certainly proving that when fully fit he’s a very effective Premier League striker; capable in my opinion of 15 plus goals a season and lord knows we haven’t had one of those since Demba Ba briefly rocked up on our shores in the January transfer window of the 10/11 season.

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

Andy certainly won’t be returning to Liverpool (he already has as many goals for West Ham as he does for Liverpool in less than half the appearances) leaving us and his native Newcastle competing for his services.  Whilst Andy would most likely wish to return to his boyhood club; its unlikely Liverpool would be willing to sell him back to Newcastle at almost half the price the Toon sold him for.

Given his age, the potential we’ve seen in glimpses and how easily he slots into Sam’s formation/style of play I think it’s a deal we should do; providing it doesn’t too heavily impact on our ability to make other signings this summer.

The perception of Andy Carroll has changed significantly at West Ham; we all remember his debut against Fulham where his mere presence in one way or another lead to all three of our goals,  when he went off injured…it seemed we’d lost our latest talisman, his return coincided with a poor run of form in front of goal…it seemed we need to get rid in the summer and bring in a real goal-scorer and now of course Carroll is fit and firing and we all want to keep him.

I don’t personally believe Andy Carroll will become the world star that everyone predicted he would when Liverpool spent 35 million acquiring his services; but I do believe he can become a great Premier League striker and it’s simply been too long since we had one of those.
