FIVE Things We Learnt About West Ham Against Chelsea

|

Chelsea LampardSunday saw one of the most anticipated games of the season for many of the Hammers faithful as West Ham visited Stamford Bridge where a dominant Chelsea team beat us 2-0.

The simple fact is they were, although it pains me to say it, the better team on the day and I’m quite thankful we kept it at just 2, as Demba Ba missed a hatful of chances that even Fernando Torres could have put away. After thinking back about the game, here are the 5 things I learnt from it:

1 – Some fans are far too expectant. I saw tweets of genuine anger at the fact we lost and although it’s horrible to lose any game, especially against Chelsea, the fact of the matter is we are a newly promoted side and Chelsea’s cost hundreds of millions of pounds. The manner of the defeat may have been a tad disappointing but I think some fans have jumped the gun and have forgotten that last season we were playing our football in the Championship

2 – It would appear I was right about Ricardo Vaz Te. The number 12 showed nothing in a game where the fans expected to see a performance from each individual player. Vaz Te has his critics, I’m one, but when he gets a chance to stake a claim for himself in the starting 11 he just walks around like he couldn’t care less. I’ve had enough of him, his talent appears to be limited and his work rate completely unacceptable for a man cherished to play in the claret and blue.

3 – We missed Mark Noble. Although some seem to have turned against West Ham man Mark Noble, due to his somewhat negative approach and his ability to slow attacking moves down, we know that he would have left everything he had on that pitch because he, unlike many, actually care. He might not be the best player we have, but he gives more than anyone, and we missed that a lot on Sunday.

4 – Money is taking over the beautiful game. With players like Eden Hazard in the Chelsea team it was hard to ever see us coming away with the points but Chelsea really have bought there way to the top, because they can. Sadly, we will never be able to compete with the big guns because we haven’t got the financial capacity to right now.

5 – We have the greatest fans in the land. Even at 2-0 down we completely outsung the 35 thousand plus Chelsea fans and supported our team the whole game. I’m proud to be a Hammer.

5 very accurate points in my eyes although im not so sure we learnt Vaz te is not up to the premier league, like u said he just wanders around the pitch without a care in the world and im yet to see him lose possesion and actually attempt to win the ball back. Also tends to spend more time on the floor than on his feet!!

I must say a big well done to our fans for yet again creating an outstanding atmophere. although a small number have appeared to get us in the papers for the wrong reasons i left the bridge with a thumping head ache from singing my heart out the whole game! COYI!
