We have the numbers!

|

The number of fans each week, proves we could fill the Olympic Stadium?

With the sound of synchronised singing, unity and passion flying around the stadium, West Ham United fans voices will always be heard,  the song  “bubbles” echoes through every fans ears at Upton Park screaming out for a stadium that can embrace our sound; Olympic stadium are you ready for us?

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Since West Ham United returned to the Premier League and our fantastic form continued with 9 games gone (despite recent results) the fans continue to flock Upton Park and sing in their numbers and give “I’m forever blowing bubbles” it’s real meaning.

On the West Ham United official site, David Sullivan said. “Wherever we are and whoever we are playing they turn out in their thousands. They were magnificent once again at Wigan on Saturday and although the game wasn’t going our way, they continued to get behind the team in the second half”.

The question is; for how much longer will we be kept limited to the famous walls of Upton Park before our singing knocks it down? Sullivan said himself, “The kind of atmosphere our fans will create will hopefully intimidate the opposition and that is vital if we are to get results against some of the best teams in Europe.”

We need to branch out and prove that our support is better than the likes of Newcastle United and Liverpool, but whilst they have stadiums with capacities of 52,387 and 45,276 respectively, we have only 35,016 (of course we would sound quieter than them) but even so we give them a run for their money.

One of the things I love about being a West Ham fan is that I am proud of our fans, we are an army of claret and blue, who will appear in numbers week after week and respect the traditions the club has. Despite the traditions I want to see us grow, and with a bigger stadium not only will the club grow in stature, ambition and appeal, but in voice and in song bringing the fans closer to the pitch urging the team on (that’s if we get the seating situation sorted).

For months we have been linked with the Olympic stadium and to be honest other than the tempting and emergence of the shock interest from the NFL to become the anchor tenants of the Stadium, no one (other than us) will make the most of it.

I can see the reason why the NFL would be a serious contender as American Football is growing in popularity with seats constantly being sold in their tens of thousands, but this is England and our sport is football (or as the Americans might say – Soccer) and we should be the rightful tenants and most considered proposition, despite the lure of dollar or pound signs rolling in the eyeballs of Boris Johnson.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham-lp

People can doubt if a club such as West Ham United are capable of filling the Olympic Stadium, but just look at our recent attendances, for the past 3 games we have had sell-outs and the fans are queuing up to see their beloved club play. So competitors such as Leyton Orient, the University East London or the Formula One can’t say we haven’t got the proof of our following.

As a club, we are club with glorious fans, glorious traditions and glorious ambition, we now need the stadium to match so that our glorious song can be heard on a wider scale and in time see the glory arise in front our eyes.

Upton Park holds 35,000. We aren’t going to fill almost double that. Maybe 40-45,000 yes, but a 60,000 sweater stadium with an awful atmosphere, and never full; no thank you

I feel if they have offers for young children and go special match day offers and such as this is a excellent opportunity for the Hammers and as a west ham fan i am for the move do i think it will happen how i dont kno but it could be good for us!! ppl talk about how are we going to sell it out?? i bet man city thought that when they took over there new stadium..

    Nice Article pal

With cheap ticket prices I don’t see why not. Man City didn’t feel their stadium straight away until the money came in which reduced the cost to see a match.

People underestimate West Ham’s support as were not like Chelsea who struggled to even get five thousand supporters when they were in the second tier of English football were as our average was over 30+ thousand in the championship.

Give us a chance and you would be surprised how many hammers will be there but it all comes down to decent pricing. COYI!!

Not this saga again! What you need to ask yourself is this, do you want west ham to develop and become a top team capable of challenging for top honours or, continue to be a “small” club that lives on in past glories and yo-yo’s from top to second divisions? Your choice! If you want the former, bite your tongue and get behind the Olympic bid. If you want the latter then you re no true friend to the hammers and your support will kill the club in the end? End off!!! Simple as that!

Ps…. Forgot to add, don’t worry about the seating unless it is fit or purpose we won’t be moving! As for not filling it well that’s just people mainly spud fans who are jealous and scared of what the irons would become with the investment both off and on the pitch 50-60,000 crowds would bring to us! The owners have already said with an inexpensive seating plan it would be easy to fill OS and make football a family experience again! Even Hearn at the o’s said we could fill it and that is what he was really worried about! Well him and every other team in the capital!
