Has MJ delivered?

|

Matthew Jarvis joined the Hammers in the summer for a record transfer fee estimated to be around 11 million pound but with the winger yet to get an assist has he made the impact Sam Allardyce had hoped.

When Jarvis joined I like many West Ham fans were left excited at the thought of Jarvis whipping in balls into the box for our forwards to attack, and that excitement turned into expectation as he linked up with Andy Carroll.

But like most new and exciting signings we have signed over the years, his arrival was twinned with an injury the former Wolves man had never experienced. Thankfully now fully fit the winger will now aim to prove his worth.

With Jarvis hoping his club form can propel him in Roy Hodgson’s England squad, the winger will hope he can find Carroll’s head more often, with no assist and just one goal to his name he will need to get into more attacking areas and stay fit if he wants to achieve that dream. He told the Daily Mail earlier on this month about that ambition he said; ‘Obviously, I just need to keep playing well for West Ham and see where that takes me. If I keep doing well then you never know”.

His ability is there for all to see, with his main attributes being speed and directness; it was something we had been crying out for for a long time.  Add to that the pace of his delivery he is perfect for Andy Carroll and counter attacking play, it allows us to clear and spread the play wide.

I am for one excited at the thought of Ricardo Vaz Te and Jarvis lining up together again. Playing against Arsenal these two gave us a chance and it was no coincidence that the game changed with Vaz Te’s injury and the Gunners ran out comfortable winners in the end.

One problem for me is the set piece duty, I cannot work out why we continue to let Mark Noble take set piece when Jarvis is in the side, when you look at YouTube videos of Jarvis in his Wolves days some of the balls he put in the box are nothing short of world class. The less said about Nobles ball in the better, the regularity of it beating the first man is far too low for him to continue to take the set piece and I believe if we allowed Jarvis to take them, the summer signings assist record would be far higher.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham-lp

I think it’s just a matter of time before we see the best of Jarvis, and I think we need to stick by our record signing, he is still settling in and getting used to his new teammates. With Carroll now of the mark surely big Sam’s plans will now come in fruition and the expectation can be met. Jarvis onto Carroll’s head one nil West Ham.

Come on You Irons!

when we played man city he was chasing balls down in like 92nd minute. He may not have had much luck yet but its not all his fault.

i’m sure he’ll find his way but so far i’m happy with him.

Love Noble but he’s awful at taking corners and free kicks

Forget the injury , we should get more out of him for the money we paid !!! Down to the manager to make them practice set pieces and i could get the ball to carrols head more times than he does !!! Not good enough Sam , sort it out or we could end up in our normal dogfight cos trust me we aint that good !!!!
