I’m feeling positive

|

Leaving the ground on Saturday night, defeat didn’t seem so bad, we had pushed a top four side all the way and watching the Arsenal players and fans alike celebrate as if they had won the league shows they knew they were in a battle.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

The 3-1 reverse at Upton Park was in the end decided by superior finishing from the higher class players on the pitch Santi Carzorla in particular who I thought ran the show and I think Arsene Wenger may have found a Spanish superstar again. We in no way disgraced ourselves and under Big Sam I am as confident as I have for a season for a long while, he is tactically astute and gets the players up for a battle.

Big Sam after the game said which for me summed up the game, “”We did really, really well and, of course, needed to finish the chances when we got them. We did with the first one – Mo’s goal was brilliant – but then there was one just before half-time when Kevin couldn’t quite dig it out from Mark Noble’s free-kick, and then in the second half Kevin has had two golden chances.”

The Hammers currently sit in 8th place and the start this squad has made in their return to the Premier League is just what the doctor order eleven points from seven games isn’t half bad. I think it all comes down to the manager and chairmen bringing in quality players to fill the gaps. Mohamed Diame for example at times is unplayable and some of his bustling runs are a joy to watch and his goal yesterday was top draw and the fact we got him on a free is superb business from the club.

Another player Andy Carroll, Okay he may not have scored yet, but what a difference he makes to our team, he tracks back he wins everything in the air and causes havoc to the back 4 of every team we will come up against this year. Yesterday against Arsenal he looked like a man on a mission and was given the man of the match award, he chased every ball and won nearly every header both defensively and in attack, if he can stay fit it is another masterstroke from Big Sam and the Dave’s to bring him in.

Back to my original point, I have no fears about this season, and yesterday just proved it to me we competed for 75 minutes against a Champions League side and had Kevin Nolan had his shooting boots on it could have been so much different at full time. On the way home yesterday my mates and I were discussing the last time the Gunners came to town and they pulled our pants down and smacked our backsides, it was embarrassing. Under Sam Allardyce the players look well drilled and when we go behind unlike under previous managers we don’t capitulate we continue to fight and but for a Carzorla wonder goal who knows what might have happened.

We were unlucky yesterday, it’s time to forget it, take the positives and move on to Southampton where if we play a similar game to yesterday it should be a more enjoyable walk home than yesterday, it’s all well and good walking home proud but we need those three points. Let’s pray for no injuries on international duty and come back all guns blazing for the Saints.

Come on you Irons!

The long ball tag isn’t as true as you may think the passing is mixed between short and long. Take the goal this weekend short passing before a classily taken goal. It’s naive to say its just hoof after hoof.

I watched the game and to be fair the Arse are a class act but we made them fight all the way. the change in tactics at half time was positive and we could have took the lead both Nolan and carroll had good chances to put us in front and we where not looking for a draw however the change of playing higher up the pitch with more width led to our downfall on this occasion. The excellent Mo Diame made two mistakes the whole game and cost us 2 goals. So from my view we have nothing to fear this year just look at how the last promoted team S,Hampton got on when the played the the Arse.
