Top FIVE Things About Upton Park

|

Upton Park is arguably one of the top stadiums in the country. Home to the mighty Irons and to some of the best fans in the world. However, Upton Park is never really recognised it’s all about the football, however the home of football is a key factor to its success. But what are the top 5 things about the Boleyn Ground?

5: The feeling when you see it – on a Saturday when Upton Park comes into view is one of the best feelings that you can experience as a fan.

4: The size – Upton park is in all fairness a very big ground, with a capacity of just over 30,000 it is up there with the best.

3: The noise – Upton Park can be deafening sometimes. Especially when bubbles bursts over the speakers and more so when the music is switched off, some real noise is made.

2: The atmosphere – Upton Park has one of the best atmosphere’s in the country with the fans at the base of it singing the songs and cheering but it is infectious when you’re there.

1: West Ham – Of course Upton Park is our spiritual home and home to everyone’s favourite football team. It has been our home for a long time and will hopefully still be in the future.

My top thing about Upton Park is that it is the area that is home to the Boleyn Ground. The name of West Ham’s stadium, which at over 35,000 capacity is slightly larger than ‘just over 30,000’…

    Jesus.

Well said HammerMan it really pisses me off that nobody gets the name of our stadium right

Are you joking about the atmosphere, its the worst there is for a club of our size,i would even say embarassing,it went from the best when there was standing to the worst

i luv it still, although we could never have our old boleyn ground atmosphere back will never forget the night game against ipswich in that play off 1st leg constant singing throughout. seems to have lost a bit of it lately cos of the last couple of seasons but once everyone believes again the old atmosphere will be back. believe! coyi!

The noise and atmosphere? Are you joking? Its dire unless we go 2 goals up other wise its just full of fans complaining, and its only a few small sections that create a bit of noise these days!

  • spuds hater says:

well all get behind them and sing your hearts out next time your there, only the ones who dont sing ruin the atmosphere they need a boot ap the arse . If everyone backs the team 100 per cent we would make it a fortress again. coyi!

Completely agree, Matt. Lakers definitely need a point guard under the age of 36, but the Knicks are in need of a definite leader. Melo is the team’s captain, yet when I think of New York I still think it’s Amare’s team. Billups was good for the team from a leadership standpoint. Douglas is obviously not starting point guard material.

    Right then, where to start?
    5) ‘the feeling when you see it’ what….embarrassment?? Those ghastly castle towers that look like they’re made of Lego.
    4) What kind of West Ham fan doesnt know the size of our ground, and if you dont know then do some damn research.
2&3) You clearly haven’t been to a match in a long time, there is no noise and the atmosphere is terrible.

????????? Is it me or aren’t 3 points pretty much the same & the other 2 are wrong??
Apart from those, another ‘great’ article from this site!!!

  • Faustino says:

yeah the atmosphere has been pretty bad for a while, but hopefully will get beetter. We’ve been too nervy by far and BFS hasn’t helped. the brighton game seemed like a turnaround but then it dropped back again. i hope we get that buszz back this season.

For me , on of the main things is that the stadium is still in the heart of the community, West Ham nor the ground has yet succumbed to the plastic nature of the Premiership, too many soulless indentikit stadiums sprung up on the edge of towns or in areas away from the original ground.
