The great season ticket swindle!

|

West Ham co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan have so far enjoyed an excellent relationship with supporters, until now. Our previous owners the Icelandic consortium headed by Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson had promised fans a 20% discount on their season ticket on the fifth of a five year sign up commitment.

This enabled the Hammers to encourage more season ticket holders and potentially the ability to borrow on future years season ticket monies. Gudmundsson certainly appears to have had a brash and irresponsible business nature to risk losing twenty percent of a single season’s ticket income on the promise of a few extra tickets.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Needless to say Iceland went completely tits up and Mr Gudmundsson went down with it leaving the Hammers in a dire situation. How we avoided administration is a mystery to most people including, I would presume an interested Portsmouth

and Crystal Palace. Both clubs entered administration with far less debt than the Hammers.

When the two David’s took over our great club it was in a right mess but as David Sullivan stated upon arrival and I quote:

Our long-term aim will be to put the club on a stronger financial footing. I believe with our new board we have the expertise and experience to do just that and bring the good times back to this great football club,”

The club is now back in the hands of East Enders, people who understand the community and its passion for the Hammers. I believe that depth of feeling will also bring us through what has been a difficult period.”

If those words are true then keeping a promise to West Ham supporters who have invested their time, money and emotions in the club should be a priority.

The two David’s have invested a lot of money into the club and I have personally sung their praises. By ignoring a deal struck with loyal West Ham fans they run the risk of undoing all that good work in one foul swoop.

The West Ham owners have released a statement stating their investments this season and last to keep the club afloat in a bid to appeal to the fans better nature. This includes accepting a staggered discount deal sent out to the concerned parties.

Indeed what they have put into the club so far is wonderful but I would remind them that the biggest investors in our club come from the very season tickets holders who feel aggrieved.

Have your say below, should season ticket holders accept the new proposals?

Talk about old news! The owners have already confirmed that those eligible for the discount can take 20% this year or 5% for the next four.

    Seriously dude, keep up!

I think like our pensions, we should realise what was previously promised was not then and is not now feesible, and if enforced, could bring down the club we love. Lets bite the bullet and come to terms with the fact it was a fool hardy proposal in the first place and was only ever going to hurt our club.

take the 20% discount, less income for the club, less funds for new players, risk relegation!!
    well done..
I’m sure the last government promised a whole load of things that the new one can’t keep for the good of the country; but no, you lot go for it… a great deal promised by a bunch of fools who very nearly killed our club.
