Jussi the ticket for Henderson?

|

West Ham this week confirmed the signing of veteran Bolton Wanderers goal keeper Jussi Jääskeläinen. The Finnish goal keeper brings over 12 years of Premier League experience that manager Sam Allardyce had relied on for the majority of this managerial career.

The real question about this signing is where the 37 year old Fin will fit into the Hammers squad? Will Jussi be the number one and pass on his significant experience to young Stephen Henderson by example or will the ageing stopper be a back up / trainer for the up and coming talent that is Henderson?

Personally I would start with Jussi and gradually introduce Henderson to the Premier League stage, experience is everything in the top league and Big Sam has always stuck to what he knows.

The slightly worrying factor is that Bolton were relegated last season conceding 77 goals and Jääskeläinen could not force his way back into that side after injury.

Perhaps Big Sam knows how bad Boltons defence is! Also Adam Bogdam was named Boltons player of the year so maybe I’m being hard on the man.

So it’s not an awe inspiring signing for the Hammers and personally neither of our current keepers come close to the legend that is Robert Green.

Looking on the bright side at least we haven’t signed Yakubu!
