Should we make it a permanent move?

|

Henri Lansbury is set for showdown talks with Arsene Wenger after the play-off final, and I for one don’t blame him in the slightest! The bright young talent only has a year left on his contract at Arsenal, yet has been on loan for the past 4 seasons.

He’s only made 3 substitute appearances for the Gunners so far in his career, and has had only one start in a cup match. It seems the timeis now for Lansbury to decide whether he wants to be a talent for Arsenal that never gets to start, or move to a perhaps less successful side and get hischance to shine.

I think that Lansbury has injected some flair and real character in his season at West Ham, and I think he fits into the squad well. If the chance was there to have a crack at signing him, I think that the club should take it.

Arsene Wenger has called the Arsenal team ‘congested’ but has also said that he believes Lansbury will make a great Arsenal player. It’s hard to see what lies in store for Lansbury as I’m not sure he would get into the Arsenal first team straight away and at 21 time seems to be running out for him to break into it without facing up to the fact he needs to move on.

There’s also the point that he doesn’t actually get in our first team all the time, and shares the spotlight with Jack Collison. This in itself makes me doubt whether he would cut the mustard in the Arsenal first team and whether Wenger would take a punt on him. It would definitely be nice to see how he does in the Premier League, but it’s still a mystery of who that’ll be for. I for one hope he pulls on a claret and blue shirt permanently, as I think he can develop into a real Hammers favourite.

Would you like Lansbury to stay, or do you think he’ll return to Arsenal? Let me know at @alwaysintune.

Correct me if I’m wrong but did he not sign a new 3 year deal with arsenal around the new year?

It’s a shame that Lansbury is likely to move on in the summer – he does have a lot of good qualities but you’re right, he’s never going to be good enough for our first team.

Truth be told, he hasn’t had much time on the pitch in the PL which, I think, will discourage you lot from signing him…you need someone you know can do it week in, week out at the top level…

He signed a new at Arsenal, where did you get that he only has one year left??

As already mentioned, Lansbury signed a new deal within the last year. I think he has a future at Arsenal, providing he’s willing to be a squad player and wait for his chance, realising he’s behind Wilshere, Arteta, Rosicky and (possibly) Ramsey in the pecking order at this moment in time. I’d be disappointed if we sold him on the cheap this Summer. He’s a good player with lots of personality and character that could add to our squad.

Despite being more talented, I’d rather see Diaby loaned out to see if he can stay fit elsewhere for a period of time, and finally give Lansbury a chance.

i’d choose Lansbury over Ramsey all day long. hopefully with Steve Bould as No2 he might get more of a chance… i hope so anyway

As a gunner, I’ve always liked the look of him when I have seen him play, and think he could do a job for almost any team.

I hope that Arsenal either give him a proper role next season or let him move on to a club – why not WHU if you guys want him – that will give him that chance. It doesn’t do Arsenal or Lansbury any good to have him on our books if he’s never going to get a game for us.

he only signed for a year at arsenal

Can’t see anyway he will get near their first team to be honest

    but wouldn’t mind keeping him

If Wenger rated Lansbury he would not send him to West Ham to be coached by ole Fathead. Lansbury’s going for about 1 mill and wants to go to a team that suits his style. Its about progressing.

Tough question with the uncertainty about which league we’ll be in next season but I see a couple of related problems to bringing him to Upton Park on a permanent basis: First, if we go up, you want players who are first choice in the Championship week in, week out. That has not been Lansbury this season. Second, I’ve heard rumors that Big Sam doesn’t rate him. I could see trying to extend his loan into next season if we get promoted. Perhaps the style of play in the top flight will suit him better. Or signing him if we fail to go up if the price is right. He’s a use squad player as is especially because he can play emergency keeper, giving us an extra field player on a five-man bench.
