What will be the eventual name of the 2012 Olympic Stadium?

|

DISCLAIMER: I know that West Ham won’t have the rights to the naming of the stadium but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun!

With the winning bidder for tenancy of the Olympic Stadium soon to be announced there is still uncertainty as to the eventual name of this new sporting arena.

During the original bid process which was won fairly & squarely by West Ham United (to the jealousy of one respected local rival and also the club from N17) there was much speculation about naming rights to the stadium.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

If the club gets to set it’s own name then I would put forward the following two suggestions;

Academy Arena

Reflecting our policy of producing great young players & tradition of playing attractive football

The Castle

With the name inspired by the club badge, the stadium does look imposing from the surrounding area and hopefully we can turn it into a modern day fortress. Also, it’s largely surrounded by water.

West Ham would originally have been able to secure a bumper payout but now it seems the club will not benefit financially from the re-naming deal.

Whoever will gain from this, here’s a lighthearted look at a few potential sponsors, together with what benefit they might look to gain;

Rainham Steel Stadium

Local company Rainham Steel could take their football sponsorship to a new level and finally realise the potential of associating themselves with their premier local club, the mighty West Ham United instead of lowly Scunthorpe United

Olympus Park

Binocular manufacturer Olympus could take advantage of the very minor name change required and bid for naming rights. They could aim to recoup part of their investment by supplying 60,000+ needy new customers with their new model the “Soccer-Noculars” These could be used & endorsed by none other than Big Sam Allardyce.

Ann Summers Stadium

Also to be known as “The ASS”. This could be coupled with a shirt sponsorship deal for their flagship product, the Rampant Rabbit which would be emblazoned on the team’s strips. This is thought to be the club’s directors favourite choice but would not be popular with more traditional supporters.
