And so the Southampton wobble begins?

|

After West Ham’s comprehensive and stylish win over Barnsley and Reading’s win taking them to the top of the table, will Southampton be feeling the pressure?

The Saints suffered a comprehensive defeat midweek versus Blackpool who the Hammers have twice demolished this season. Does this indicate a mini crisis at St Mary’s? Let’s hope so!

Southampton’s last 6 games include teams such as Middlesbrough, local rivals Portsmouth and Reading. This presents no easy task for the Saints who are not blessed with the largest squad, injury to any of their key players and trouble could be afoot for the side that have topped the Championship for so long.

The Hammers impressive win over Barnsley will hopefully spur the team and the fans into a positive and successful finish to the current campaign. The performance of Nicky Maynard against the Tykes and RVT in the last few games have been first class and leave the Hammers knocking on the door for automatic promotion. These two players can in my opinion give the hammers the boost they need to put the pressure on Southampton and Reading.

After watching the performance against Barnsley I am filled with optimism going into our crucial home game against Birmingham this Monday. If the fans support continues to be positive and loud as recently proved then performances and confidence can only get better.

Let’s get Upton Park rocking for what could be our most important game of the season so far against our bogey team Birmingham City. COYI

I sure hope so. You may be right, but both teams have a cushion of points over us, so something drastic needs to happen including a tremendous home form turn a round.

Whilst both teams above us have a points cushion, they have to play each other, which means a draw, we go 2 points behind both teams; and if one of them lose, we are only a point behind them (hope that’s Southampton). All depends on us winning our games, mind, but good display yesterday.
    COYI!
