Time to reveal, Ravel?

|

After bagging himself two goals in the development squads win against Brentford Ravel Morrison has put his foot firmly in the door of Sam Allardyce’s office and said “I’m ready.”

Ravel Morrison a deadline day mover to the East End from Manchester United for around a million pound is yet to play for the first team but is forcing Allardyce to put him in his plans and he featured on the bench last Saturday against Doncaster. So is it time to reveal Ravel?

Many Twitter murmurs and forum sites have been calling for Morrison to be involved as the midfield three appear to stagnant and slow, bringing in Ravel would add skills and speed to a midfield lacking in confidence and belief after 3 disappointing home draws in a row. His two goals for the reserves at Griffin Park were sure to send Big Sam a timely reminder of his ability just as Ricardo Vaz Te finds himself on the physio’s table.

Morrison tipped to be better than Jack Wilshere by Henry Winter in a feature about him has everything a midfielder should have pace, an eye for a pass, skills and he is not afraid to shoot. Something that has been brought up many a time at Upton Park in recent games the lack of awareness to shoot from outside the box from midfield. Ravel would bring this flair and excitement back to Upton Park and would get fans up on their feet again.

Whether he will take part this weekend away at Leeds remains to be seen and perhaps this game has come to soon for him as Sam Allardyce still tries to contain his ego and “bad boy” reputation. But rumblings around the West Ham camp suggest that despite “Twittergate” he has settle to life in London quickly and is getting his head down in training. So if he remains to do this is will force Allardyce to make a decision and listen to the fans that are desperate to see him in action for the first time.

Allardyce who broke his silence on Morrison said that bringing in Morrison to replace Vaz Te would be a “big big risk”. Well Sam isn’t that what you’re paid to do taking risks to make rewards. Gamble Sam and take that reward.

This weekend the Hammers travel to Yorkshire in a huge game against Leeds in front of a 30 thousand plus crowd at Elland road. A win would help to erase the disappointment of the two home draw against Watford and Doncaster Rovers respectively, and get the Hammers automatic promotion campaign back on track. Early team news suggests that on Joey O’Brien will make a comeback from injury whilst Faubert, Reid, Diop and Demel all remain side-lined and they were this week were joined by Vaz Te who will also miss out.

Previous records points to a home win but under Sam Allardyce West Hams away form has been quite magnificent so the form book could well be thrown out the window for this one. The Hammers also have the added incentive for the Hammers to get one over on Neil Warnock. Here’s hoping for a big away win in Yorkshire.

In other news the Hammers have today completed the loan signing of promising goalkeeper Stephen Henderson until the end of the season. The 23 year old who has joined from Portsmouth is expected to add vital competition for the number one shirt at Upton Park. Speaking to the official site Whufc.com he said; “I’m aware that I might have to wait for my chance because Robert Green is one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship – everyone knows that. I will just come here, work as hard as I can and hopefully be ready when I’m given my chance.”

While I cant wait to see Ravel in the first team I think the bully boys of Leeds is not the best place to start him. They would kick seven shades out of him trying to get a reaction.

He should definitely be given at least 30 minutes in a home game we need inspiration at home and by the sounds of the way he plays he would get the crowd excited and that might be enough, I don’t see Reading or Southampton losing too many games… by the look of the two penalties they got against Millwal you would have to think perhaps the Millwall players wanted them to win it seems they are losing to all our opponents I think they might go down and I would feel sorry for Kenny Jacket if that happened his players are a disgrace !
