None of this today please!

It’s been written on here before and I’m sure it’ll be written on here again but the booing against Watford wound me up so much I had to have a rant why? Because I must have been the only one clapping at full time amongst a chorus of boos. Okay so we weren’t at our scintillating best yesterday but we came from

behind to pick up a point something that wouldn’t have happened last year that’s for sure.

We have dropped far too many points this season at home I agree and it is frustrating but booing the team off is not the right was to go about making a difference. The team will now walk out on

Saturday against Doncaster knowing they must get an early goal and that pressure is not needed. We know if we play without fear and with freedom we can stuff teams, see Blackpool home and

away for an example.

I never really understood the attraction to “away days” before I went to my first this year, it is a completely different ball game. The atmosphere compared to home games is out of this world.

Maybe it’s because the expectation level isn’t as high or the fact they’ve been in the “local” pubs for several hours before but it just seems to me that away days are for the real fans. They are there for the enjoyment of the day and to see their team win. Far too many fans these rock up to Upton Park and if were not one up within 10 minute start to moan about a lack of ideas and it does my nut in.

Sam Allardyce has come out and said he was disappointed with the booing after the Palace game and said “some players were disappointed by it”. So what do we go do the very next week? Boo the players off again. People who say it shouldn’t affect them “there on 60k a week” now think how it would affect you if someone went into your workplace and booed wherever you went. Don’t you think it would affect you?

It just riles me to see it, we’re 2nd in the league with a game in hand and just one point off topping the table, when was the last time we could say that? So we might not be playing football in the same style of Messi and the boys at Barcelona but we can’t afford to moan the players at this club have been given a mission to get promoted and as it stands were on course for that. So boo boys one final message, we all agree we pay a lot of money and your allowed to air your opinions but wait until you get home and have a good rant on a forum site. And add to that the fact we haven’t lost at home since the 3rd of December, we don’t have it too bad do we? Try and stay positive and believe.

Couldnt agree more!! Back the boys and the results will come.

  • Geezer says:

I agree with all you said about booing but then you come out with ” that away days are for the real fans.” so there are no real fans at UP ?

  • Old Jack says:

Agree entirely, moan yes do it a lot.
Find it a bit odd players complaining that
they feel the pressure at home, too much expectation they complain.
A full Stadium, of the most dedicated fans
most weeks, just give 100% and they will back you all the way
Booing does no one any good, apart from upsetting the players who least deserve it. .

The people doing the bullying are cowardly, bullying morons. If they are able to read, they should look at Sam’s article in the Express about how fear affects the very best players. No doubt they will be thrilled if their behaviour becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and the players become so nervous when playing at Upton Park that we stay down. I’m sure they’ll take great delight in saying “told you so”, as though it demonstrates a higher knowledge of the game, instead of a complete ignorance of how it is played and won. These people have no place at Upton Park and should be banned from the ground.

Totally agree, booing your own team is senseless it just puts them under more pressure.

“Because I must have been the only one clapping at full time amongst a chorus of boos” you are a saint!!

Surely clapping a poor performance is just being condescending.

I think the majority of us just strolled off grumbling about the poor quality of long ball football being played when we have the players to be so much more. A few people boo’d yes, perhaps people who can only afford to go every so often and feel like they have wasted their money.

Lets be honest, give the crowd some exciting fooball like we are capable of and they will get going and make UP roar like in the good old days, mid 80s when I startied going (and have held a Season Ticket since). noone will remember the other stuff.

What I think is happening is that one person boos, and then everyone else starts to boo that one person for booing the team. But when the team hear the booing, they naturally assume it is because yet again they have dropped points at home. They are of course wrong but, even the perception that the crowd is on their backs is enough to stop them from producing their very best football.

The way to sort this would be for the club to issue life bans to the boo boys, instead of offering them low cost boo-all-you-like deals via Groupon and so on. It won’t happen of course because (and for all of Sam’s rhetoric), the club would take money over the pastoral care of its players any day of the week.

      • irons says:

        life bans for booing???
shall we ban all away fans as well in case their team score and they dare to cheer??
list in the program what they are allowed do?
booing the team is wrong yes I agree, but we are still in the 2nd automation promotion position with a game in hand. if we played the way we all know we can we would have had this league won already. but the fans pay their money and are entitled to voice their opinion.

        • Boo Hammer says:

Well how would you deal with the problem then? Because WHU will not do their very best if a way is not found to stop their confidence to be undermined, each time they play at what should be ‘fortress’ Upton Park.

I know that life bans seems harsh. But in real terms, not many would be issued. Once it got round that a handful of bans had been dished out, then the crowd would seriously need to consider their behaviour. And there MIGHT be special circumstances I’m sure, in which booing did not attract the maximum sanction. But we can cross that one should Samassi Abu come out of retirement to put on the claret and blue once again.

  • Peter Creak says:

Why are these messages timed wrong

  • Micky says:

Yeh 2nd in a league we should be winning by a country mile yet another poor performance at home!! I can’t understand why we can’t vent our feelings it use to happen years ago I don’t care if the players don’t like to be booed I don’t like to spend my hand earned money as be fed with that pile of tripe every week and to be perfectly honest that’s how it’s been all season I think we have bored teams in to submission more then out playing sides long ball is soo annoying when we actually have the players to play our way and when we have done in parts this season yes we have looked the better side allerdyce is far to negative again today takes Nolan off fora defender why not bring on Morrison when it was clear we needed some thing in the engine room he would have been ideal and trust me the fans would have been behind allerdyce more if had done that then bring Collins on no offence to him as he didn’t lit a foot wrong our play this season has been pathetic!! We are now joint 3rd when not so long ago we was like 6 points clear of 3rd place.

He moans abut our lack of finishing all I have seen so far is our strikers have had their back to the goal most of the time also we have bought in baldock vaz te carew Maynard yet he still continues to play 1 up top to accommodate Nolan who is a passenger in midfield it’s a joke to watch week in week out
