FIVE Thing We Learnt From West Ham vs Millwall

|

Saturday brought about the highlight of my season. West Ham United 2-1 Millwall. Now I believe that the score line didn’t exactly portray the game correctly; we could have scored many more but it obviously wasn’t to be. No matter, we scored more than 1 and both came from open play! Then there is the fact that we have the bragging rights over our biggest rivals until we meet again. Saturday provided some revelations for West Ham, and here are 5 I thought most important.

5: Carlton Cole needs a strike partner. Although the big man scored a fine header and made holding up the ball look easy, I think we would see a change for the better in Cole if he had someone to link up with.

4: Kevin Nolan must be dropped. The team captain has been unimpressive to say the least this season and on a number of occasions should have been dropped, Saturday further emphasised this as Nolan was sent off for a ridiculous challenge very early into one of the most important games of the season. However in my opinion we played better without him which was good too see as he will now serve a suspension.

3: Julien Faubert is a key member of the team. The Frenchman used his pace well and was inches away from scoring with a very impressive header in a quality display. Overall Faubert was one of the best players on the pitch and he looked like he really wanted to play which was very pleasing.

2: We can use James Tomkins’ new found versatility to good effect. Tomkins played very well in the holding midfield role with both good defending and attacking. Although I’d still play him at centre back, it is interesting to know he can play elsewhere when needed.

1: Mark Noble should be our captain; he played one of the best games I’ve ever seen him play. He led the team to a fan pleasing result, seemed to play better with the armband and had control over the other members of the team. In my opinion a much better candidate for captain than Nolan as Noble looks like he wants to play every week. A Hammer through and through, I think Noble deserves the captaincy.

Totally Agree with all points especially Noble for captain

All this season has proven, that mark noble is a good championship player. The same could not be said in the premier league. This team will need to improve the quality in its midfield ant defense, if it wants to stay up.

Sorry Henry I do not agree with your Comments
about Nolan. I agree his form has not been
great but remember, he has Scored some vitalgoals this Season. I watched Potts first
game for us, and Nolan was encouraging him
throughout the game. I believe him to be a good Captain, and in the vital run in will be
a great asset to us .
    Just remember Upson!
