RUMOUR MILL: Swap deal for Tomkins?

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be set to make a bid for West Ham United’s James Tomkins. The 22 year old is one of the hottest prospects in English football right now and in many ways he has already proved his talent with impressive displays ever since he broke into the first team back in 2008.

It’s no surprise that teams are coming in with bids for Tomkins this transfer window. He has impressed his whole career but no more than this season when he has in many ways been the star of the defence.

Against Coventry on Monday Tomkins really showed how good he is in front of a bumper crowd. With several important tackles and foraging attacking runs, West Ham’s number 5 is impressing everyone and that shows with the bids that various clubs have put in.

Newcastle have already been believed to have put in 2 bids for the centre back, the last one is believed to be in the regions of £2.5 million pounds and Tottenham look like they are next to attempt to lure the England under 21 star away from Upton Park.

It is understood that they will offer 25 year old defender Sebastien Bassong and money for Tomkins. However it is unlikely this deal will go through as firstly it doesn’t really benefit us and secondly the man himself has said he does not want to leave us this season; which has to be the best news of the whole transfer window, so far.
