Who would we welcome back to Green Street?

|

With Henry back at the Emirates, Paul Scholes returning for Manchester United after a shock retirement turnaround and even rumours that Lampard is on his way back to the Hammers, I took a look at some of the players we’d welcome back to Green Street.

  1. Carlos Tevez – I know, I know, he’d cause loads of trouble. He’d decide he wanted to leave at the end of the season. But by then, he would have scored loads of goals and taken us up at the first attempt. Doesn’t that sound like a great plan? I think it sounds like a great plan. Whether it’s realistic or not is another matter.
  1. Anton Ferdinand – Our recent injuries have exposed our back four, and I really think Anton could slot straight back into the team. He was one of my favourite players when he was here – minus when he told the club his grandma had died when he was in fact holidaying in Las Vegas. I even had his photo in my locker at school…Most girls had Westlife!
  1. Da Costa – Another solid defender, Da Costa was, along with Tomkins, my favourite player of last season. I was absolutely gutted when he was sold, as I thought he definitely had a bright career ahead of him. Plus he did that crazy bouncing goal celebration.

  1. Demba Ba – Well surely this one’s obvious. He was great for us last season, and I wish we hadn’t put that bloody clause in his contract! He’s scoring for fun now and has captured the hearts of football fans across the country; especially those in black and white stripes. Ba is a quality player and I would love to see him back at West Ham.
  1. Valon Behrami – Behrami was quality for us, and always seemed to get stuck into the action whenever he played. Known as the ‘Swiss David Beckham’, Behrami gained a lot of admirers at the Boleyn Ground. He wasn’t afraid to put in a tough tackle and had great passing ability.
  1. Matthew Etherington – This fast paced winger has impressed massively at Stoke, but was also a key member of our team. He can open up defences and slot in the right ball at the right time. He’s always good at free kicks and has been known to score a few goals. I think it was a mistake to sell him, and as he’s proved at Stoke, he still has a lot to give.

And finally for manager… Paulo Di Canio – Come on, who doesn’t want that man in our technical area? Look at the passion and belief he’s brought in at Swindon. And imagine how much more passion he would bring to West Ham, the club he loves. I think we should definitely send an offer his way when our next managerial vacancy occurs.
