What is going on at Upton Park!?

|

After how many comments I got on my last article, I’m a bit scared to put an opinion piece on here again, but deep breath, here goes. I really don’t see the logic in some of the transfer news coming out of Upton Park at the moment.

Looking for experience? Just want to be heard outside of the Boleyn? We are currently looking for writers, drop us an email at foreverwestham@snack-media.com for more details

Number 1. We need a striker. So we get an unknown (sorry, Joe Dixon) who is only with us for 2 months. Who says that he needs time to be ready. How does this make sense?! Surely we should be looking at getting someone like Marvin Sordell or Nicky Maynard on board, not somebody who isn’t ready for the challenge that the Championship will bring. I know he’s only training with the Development Squad at the moment, but surely it would make more sense to recall someone like Cristian Montano who seems to be scoring for fun whenever he’s on loan. Hopefully if Dixon does well then he’ll make waves with us in the future.

Number 2. I also think that we shouldn’t have even bothered asking for a Southampton player on loan. This is for two reasons; the first being that they’re our promotion rivals. Why would they lend us a player when it could ensure us finishing above them?! And in another respect, why would we want a player who can’t get in their first team? Personally I’d much prefer a player like Mackie from QPR who is a proven attacking midfielder who I think would slot into the team alongside Lansbury, who was a welcome return on Saturday.

That said, I think the loan signing of George John is a good move, providing cover to our defence. I admit I didn’t know much about him when the signing was announced, but after reading up about him, I do think he looks to be a good acquisition for the club. The other player that I’d really, really like to see at West Ham is Marvin Sordell. He’s a bloody good goal scorer and I think we can tempt him to Green Street with the prospect of Premier League football next season. With rumours that we’ve put offers in, it looks like he may well be coming to Upton Park.

maybe its time to withdraw that last pop. jelevic from rangers is now number one target so they are trying. Rhodes is still a goer. so lets not JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON and pop off they may be trying hard….

Forget Rhodes. Too expensive. Only proven in League One. We have a few hungry ones at home already. They need to be given a run and not spend millions on someone from the lower league.

Any insider info? Seems to be all the rage at the moment.

go to chelsea seek out lakuku or beg arsenal for chamberlain. good young players get davies from bolton. we need to battle our way out of the championship. and if we do not sign rhodes and he signs elsewhere and bangs in 20 goals we would be gutted. another to get would be yakubu.
