Where would this current squad finish in the Premier League?

|

I’m going to be overly positive in this article. We’re 1-0 up against Boro as we speak, and we played amazingly well in the second half against Derby at the weekend. Our passing play was brilliant and at times we seemed untouchable. Now, I know that was against a team who aren’t doing brilliantly well in the league at the moment, but I genuinely think that we would stay comfortably in the Premier League if we were there now.

Our team has got so much more fight; so much more spirit than that of last year. We’ve still got old timers Noble (that sounds odd), Greeno and Cole who were three of the most determined and positive people in our team last season. We’ve got a captain who will be able to motivate the rest of the boys, and well, we just seem to actually want to win.

Here are the teams I currently think we’re better than in the Premier League: Blackburn, Wigan, Bolton and Wolves. I wouldn’t have included Wigan last year as even though on paper we were more impressive than them, they had the grit and determination which allowed them to grind out results last season and ultimately beat us to stay up. Now, if we go a goal down, I’m not worried about us losing – I know we’ll do our best to at least get a draw.

With my twisted logic of who I think we’re better than, I think we would come around 16th in our first season in the Premier League with this squad. We’ve got the right cover for most positions, and it looks like more talent is set to be added to the squad in January. Big Sam has, in my opinion, built a squad that will definitely be Premier League ready if – or should I say WHEN – we go up. On our day I think our style of football could beat most teams, including the big boys at the top.

yes I agree, if not higher. big sam as done well got them playing tight, if he was in charge last xmas-but if. he got some good players in and its a pity about lans & bentley, we will need that bit of class to open some up. I also like the way he changes it a round-it looks like we have a guy charge – who knows is way around. COY

Mid table ish no higher, need another wide player on the right to compete with Faubert who in my eye has been re born this year under Big Sam. I certainly don’t have the view of other hammers in the fact that we don’t play the west ham way under Big Sam, well I don’t care cos we iz good this year and getting results and to me that’s all that counts.

Love your optimism but your living in a dream world, this squad would be bottom of the premiere league by a mile we were totally outplayed by the likes of Brighton and Hull and only woeful finishing saved us. there is no chance of that happening at premiere league level. this team has no pace no basic technical ability and struggles to retain possession against very poor championship teams. Take off the claret and blue glasses and face the facts….

Another idotic Hammers ‘fan’. How in gods name were we ‘outplayed’ as u say it by Brighton? If your such a good fan, tell me how many shots they had. To save u embarrasment ill tell u.. 0. They passed it around in front of our midfield yes.. that got them nowhere. We were away from home and played on the break.

Winning is just not good enougth for some fans, esp our fans. Get of the teams back and start being optomistic.

      COYI!!

I think that with Big Sam in charge we would finish just above the relegation places. Any other manager favouring a more open style of football would almost certainly see our current squad relegated. However, we have a reasonable foundation and a winning mentality, so a few decent injury-free additions to the team could help us finish mid table.
