Green light for England?

|

Before he got injured, Green had been at his best between the sticks. His passion and determination are clear for everyone around the Boleyn to see, with the shot stopper always having time to salute the fans.

You may hear the chant “England number one” around Upton Park, but does that mean Greeno should be back at that position in the national team? Should his mistakes be forgotten? Don’t get me wrong, I think Rob Green is one of the best keepers that this country has, and is certainly a fan favourite. But after his high profile errors for England, I just don’t think Capello would ever take the risk again so long as Joe Hart is available.

As long as Hart carries on doing what he’s doing, I don’t think that Green has got a shot at playing for England again. It makes me sad to say it, and I know he’ll be involved in squads, but I cannot imagine our number one ever being our country’s number one.

That said, if anything was to happen to Hart, I don’t think Green should be overlooked. It would be a massive shame if the only thing Greeno was remembered for by a lot of football fans was the 2010 World Cup. The only thing he can do is stick to what he does best and make the Hammers fans proud.

Rob Green doesn’t need England to prove what a good keeper he is, the reason why he’s no longer England’s No1 is because he plays for unfashionable West Ham, Crapello was just waiting for him to make a mistake so he could drop him. Greeno was man enough to speak to the TV after the game, which was the first group game, in which our much vaunted strike force had a pletheror of chances to see the Americans off comfortably, but failed dismally. But Capello hasn’t spoken to Green since that night, very professional. But Rob’s just got on with his job, quietly and effectively, watching from the bench when Hart made, in my opinion, not one, but two high profile errors….which according to every pundit l’ve listened to, weren’t his fault??? but being beaten at his near post from a free kick is the keepers fault as far as l’m concerned. I have a sneaky feeling, if Rob Green had left in the summer and back to the Premiership, he’d dislodge Hart and be beck between the sticks for the 3 loins………….COYI ‘><'
