Four-midable Hammers

|

What can I say? I am seriously impressed with that. The last time we won 4-0 at home was in the Carling cup win against a severely weakened Man United side in 2010. This however was something else. West Ham played superbly as a team with John Carew and Sam Baldock looking like a Premiership strike partnership. Baldock by far deserved his award as man of the match as he was menacing from the first whistle. There may have been question marks over the former M.K Dons player but today I believe that he has won over the fans and a place in the hearts of Upton Park regulars.

From the first whistle West Ham looked like a force attacking the Blackpool goal with Taylor and Faubert bombing down the wings supplying the crosses. It took only 12 minutes for John Carew to break the deadlock, rising high above the Tangerine’s defence and glancing his header past Matt Gilks in goal. The first half passed with both teams enjoying there fair share of chances to, with Manuel Almunia playing his part in goal with some impressive saves. The first half also consisted of one of the worst pieces of refereeing I have ever seen. Our man in claret and blue was brought down but with Baldock tearing clear and through on goal the referee brought play back for the foul to the outrage of West Ham followers.

We went in 1-0 up but personally I was thinking it could have easily been 3 or 4 with the chances we had created. However we didn’t have to wait long for goals after the restart. On 47 minutes the man of the moment got through and netted a cool finish to make it 2-0 to the Hammers, and almost instantly the ball was in the net again on 51 minutes courtesy of Baldock again. Looping onto Carew’s pass he put the ball into the net to give us a 3-0 lead. But the Allardyce’s Claret and Blue Army wasn’t finished there.

On 55 minutes fan favourite Jack Collison netted to make it four, total elation filled the Boleyn ground and everyone was amazed with what they were seeing. three goals in 10 minutes gave us a 4-0 lead and that’s how it stayed until the final whistle with the final score at 4-0 but it easily could have been 8 or 9 with the amount of chances we created.

Allardyce said after the game that he was happy with the win and the performance was quite brilliant for everyone to see but Big Sam being Big Sam couldn’t resist saying he was slightly disappointed with the score as it should have been in double figures.

Great performance from the boys and hopefully this might signify some much needed home form and with the performance put in today automatic promotion shouldn’t be a problem for the mighty Irons!!!!

Henry, seriously….l think you need to reign in the enthusiasm a tad….We played nearly as bad as we did against Ipswich and were fortunate to come up against a poor Blackpool side. At 1 – 0 had Blackpool had a half decent striker, it could have gone either way, but once the second went in, their heads went down and it was easy pickings. I agree, Baldock looks quality and with Carew as the perfect foil, they should produce a few goals. I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but if we win well in at least two of the next three games, l’ll be convinced………COYI ‘><'
