West Ham United have confirmed on their official website that they have signed young Portuguese forward Domingos Quina from Chelsea.

The Hammers have been progressive in the transfer market of late and are targeting a host of young players from all over the continent in a bid to boost their already stellar youth ranks.

The attacking midfielder was widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects coming through the ranks at Stamford Bridge but with zero chance of featuring in the Blues first team, Quina has opted for a new challenge.

Initially the former Benfica schoolboy will slot into the youth team ranks and be given a chance to prove himself at that level.

However, there is every chance that Quina will be fast-tracked towards the first team and he could even get a chance to feature for Slaven Bilic’s men in pre-season ahead of the 2016-17 campaign

Academy Director and Head of Player Coaching and Development Terry Westley said West Ham’s new youngster had real potential and could well be a star in the future.

“Attracting a player of Domingos’s quality and potential to the club is recognition of the stature with which the West Ham United Academy is held,” he said.

“Domingos spent a month training with us before heading to the European Championship finals and he has seen what we are all about, the way we work and the pathway and plans we put in place for our young players.

“Domingos is an exciting young player and he has seen that we can help him to develop and make the most of his many talents at West Ham United. He wants to come on our journey the same as the likes of Martin Samuelsen, Reece Oxford and Reece Burke see their futures here.”
