West Ham are one of a number of English clubs interested in signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja, according to a new transfer update.

The Hammers have proven to be an inconsistent team so far this season, with Sunday’s 3-2 win at home to Nottingham Forest easing a little pressure on David Moyes.

There is still a need for improvements to happen, however – they sit ninth in the Premier League table, and only five wins out of 12 is slightly disappointing – and it could be that West Ham look to bring in attacking reinforcements in the near future.

Moyes’ men have scored 21 goals in 12 Premier League matches so far this season, but only Jarrod Bowen (nine) has scored more than five goals in all competitions, highlighting the need for more firepower.

A new striker could, therefore, be a primary target in the January transfer window, and according to TEAMtalk, Broja is an option for West Ham:

“Striker Armando Broja has made fleeting appearances for Chelsea this term after a long injury lay off and would be one of the most likely names on the exit list. West Ham are keen on the Albanian along with several other clubs in England and around Europe.

“Those exits could give Chelsea the means to keep themselves in a strong position moving towards the summer transfer window. A striker is not the only area of the pitch the club look to strengthen with their sights set on some of the best youngsters around the world.”

Broja could be an exciting signing by the Hammers, even though he has found playing time difficult at Chelsea, with the Albanian a young player with lots of potential.

The 22-year-old has scored four goals in 17 caps for his country – he also netted 10 times in 13 appearances in Albania’s Under-21 and Under-19s combined – and he could flourish by enjoying more regular playing time.

Broja already has 49 Premier League outings to his name, showing that he has plenty of experience under his belt at the top level, and he could be viewed as a long-replacement for Michail Antonio, as well as someone who can provide immediate competition for him, whether that be in January or next summer.
