Sao Paulo defender Luizao has turned down a switch to the Premier League with West Ham, despite being out of contract with the Brazilian club in January 2023.

What’s the word?

That is according to a report from Brazilian outlet Lance, who state that the 20-year-old has “surprised” everyone behind the scenes by rejecting the bid, having gone against his “staff’s orientations” by making “extra demands” in negotiations with the Hammers.

According to the same source, one of these extra demands is the fee paid to Sao Paolo for the transfer.

The report states that West Ham superiors did not like the requests from the player, to which the outlet believe will take talks back to the starting point.

Deal turned sour

Amidst extra demands made by the 20-year-old Brazil starlet, things are not looking too prosperous in the Hammers’ bid to move him to the Premier League.

Whilst unknown to many in the English landscape, Luizao has burst onto the scene in Brazil quite recently, owing to multiple injuries to Sao Paulo’s defensive options that include veteran defender Miranda in that list.

Having played 15 games for the Brazil giants, scoring once during that time, clubs around Europe are said to be keeping an eye on the youngster.

But upon Luizao’s demands, Sao Paulo find themselves in a complex situation, according to a piece from TheHardTackle.

Luizao was initially seen as a decent financial opportunity for the Brazilian side, who were keen on cashing in for a prosperous reward.

Though, the 20-year-old is said to possess a desire to stay at the club, with the side now looking at changing their stance and renewing the starlet’s contract which is set to expire around the time of the winter transfer window.

It’s a deal that has turned sour for the Hammers, with boss David Moyes surely rattled in his need for additional options in central defence.
