No, this is not a drill, an actual outfield player is in east London for a medical and barring some kind of last-minute fitness disaster, will be signing for the club.
And it gets better, he’s a midfielder!
In case you hadn’t heard yet, his name is Tomas Soucek, Slavia Prague’s 24-year-old 6 ft 2 in central midfielder and could put pen to paper on a £17m deal on Tuesday.
Supporters on Twitter were delighted when they found out that he was closing in on an east London switch last Monday, with one boldly predicting he would become captain in the future.
Whilst a holding midfielder by trade, the versatile Czech international is a threat going forward, with 11 league goal contributions and two Champions League strikes this season – he can also play in defence and further up the pitch as an out-and-out central midfielder.
Great signing
